Fast Return

You must end each session with all surviving characters in a safe haven. If the game session is coming to an end and you are not near a safe haven, you can quickly return to the nearest haven using Fast Return. First, nominate one player to make a Survival roll on the Fast Return table.

Due to the treacherous nature of exploration in the Wilds and the risks of fast travel, these rules are intentionally difficult. We encourage players to be strategic and consider the effects of every decision they make on their expeditions.

It is easier to pass Fast Return favorably when more characters are traveling together in Fast Return.

Modifiers:

  • Add the nominated character's survival skill to the roll result.

  • Subtract 1 from the roll equal to the number of hexes you are away from the nearest Safe Haven.

  • Subtract 1 from the roll for every day (typically 1 hex per day) any party member must go without rations and/or miasma protection.

  • Bardic inspiration, guidance, etc. are allowed in assisting the roll. However, it is limited to one assist per character involved in the fast return.

  • Help action can only be given if you are proficient in survival.

Fast Return Table

Discarding gold only affects currency acquired during the expedition. Starting gold at the beginning of the session is considered kept safely in the Mist Watch bank, and so discarding gold will not go below your starting gold amount.
