After hearing reports of a crashed Spanish fleet along the Florida coast, the crew decided to be one of the first out there. They were giving a ship by the Brethren as a loan/ test to see if they were worthy pirates. The Court expected 40% of their plunder to pay for the ship and "for the cause" in building a lasting democratic pirate nation.

The crew approached the local witch, TELA, for some help with the underwater recovery efforts. She gave them a jar of MERMAID SCALES in exchange for a favor - "To recover a small chest with a half moon symbol on top, which was personal to her". She believed it was aboard the Spanish fleet but was not certain. If they found it and returned the chest to her, she would consider the Scales to be a gift. If they didn't recover the chest, she would expect payment for the scales on their return, knowing they would return to pay the debt to the Brethren.

The crew made it out to the area of the wreck, signalled by the floating debris scattered along a small chain of islands. As they searched, a ship not flying colors approached from the starboard side. Thanks to the Captain Badness's keen eye, they were able to deter that the sloop approaching was Spanish owned and took decisive action. They made quick work of the vessel, badly damaging them before allowing them to sail away.

With the ocean void of any other vessels. the CARRION GULL laid anchor above a sunken Galleon and the crew dove in. Thankfully the current had cleared away the remains of the dead so the feeding frenzy was over - evident of a few passing piranha and a large shark leaving the ship behind. The crew made quick work to get down to the sunken ship after eating the Mermaid scales and securing ropes to help hoist up any loot they found.

A couple encounters that were solved with teamwork, they quickly found a room with a ton of booty. Chest full of silver and piles of spilled gold along with a golden idol of unknown origins (Mayan or Aztec) and a chest with a half moon symbol on top. One of the crew smartly searched a body on the ship to discover a treasure map. With everyone's help and the pulley system they had previously rigged up, they were able to secure 30,000 silver in total before a nasty storm rolled in and forced them to head back.

The Brethren has been paid back, TELA has been given her chest, and the scallywags aboard the CARRION GULL secured themselves a nice chunk of change - which never stays quite in a town full of pirates...
