The Gang's Timeline

Current State: The Deepways, the Reaches, and the Heights are in a precarious but temporary standstill. Violence between the layers has been sutured for the most part under King Talon the Kind. Peaceful coexistence remains tenuous, with mistrust simmering beneath the surface.

Event: A violent uprising orchestrated by the figure known as The Broker. Organized attacks target several banks and guardhouses in the Heights. This rebellion is a direct response to King Talon’s perceived neglect of the Deepways and its inhabitants.
Impact: The rebellion sparks a three-year guerrilla war, further straining relations between the social layers of the city. The conflict disrupts trade, creates mistrust among the nobility, and strengthens the Broker’s influence in the criminal underworld.

Event: The Broker initiates a purge within the Deepways, targeting rival factions and disloyal operatives. A series of assassinations and public displays of power ensure the Broker’s uncontested control over the underworld.
Impact: This marks the peak of The Broker’s dominance, as they solidify their status as the unchallenged power broker in the Undercity. Many rival gangs are either absorbed or eliminated, leaving the Broker’s network in control of key operations.

Event: A once-prominent gang, the Rustblades, is entirely decimated during a series of brutal confrontations with rival factions and the Broker’s forces. Surviving members are excommunicated and driven out of the Deepways.

Event: Khalia Safar, leader of the Greycoats, defies the Broker’s wishes and interferes directly in the succession plans of King Alistair Draven. Khalia orchestrates attacks on the coronation ceremony of Princess Sanira Draven, heir to the throne, and a series of high-profile heists targeting noble estates.
Outcome: Khalia ultimately assassinates Princess Sanira, which triggers King Alistar Draven’s descent into madness and his transformation into a lich. This act destabilizes the realm and marks the Greycoats as both notorious and reviled.
Impact: The Deepways become further isolated as fear of its inhabitants spreads throughout Ederia. Khalia’s actions also fracture relationships within the Broker’s network, leading to internal strife and shifting alliances.

Arrival: The Broker arrives in Crown's Rest, beginning their rise to prominence by gathering information and establishing a network of contracts. From the start, they remain shrouded in secrecy, their identity concealed in shadow.
Power Move: With no backing or alliances, The Broker assassinates the reigning master broker, plunging the Undercity into chaos. This bold act allows them to seize significant power and establish their dominance in the Deepways.
