Chezar Aldranos and Laton grew up together in Habitat Ring-7 of the Asteria Station, one of the many orbital habitats in their home system of Vetera VI.

As children of middle-management corporate employees, they shared the confined but privileged life of space-born corporate citizens. Their friendship was forged in the cramped corridors and observation lounges of the habitat, dreaming of building their own business empire while watching ships dock and depart.

After completing their business education at the Asteria Corporate Academy, Chezar's natural charisma and ambitious drive quickly landed him a position as a junior executive at a promising subsidiary of The Nexus Dynamics Consortium (NDC) on Nyx. He brought Laton in as his operations manager, maintaining their childhood friendship while building what seemed to be a legitimate business career.

When a daring heist at the Crystalline Vault Facility was executed through NeoDyne's offices, they caught the attention of S.P.E.A.R. investigators.

When investigators started looking into NeoDyne's shipping manifests, Chezar implicated Laton as the mastermind behind the heist, believing his childhood friend's loyalty would prevent him from cooperating with authorities. When Laton instead chose to collaborate with S.P.E.A.R., Chezar felt deeply betrayed.

During the investigation it was discovered that NeoDyne Solutions, began struggling when several key contracts fell through. Chezar, facing mounting pressure from NDC executives and unwilling to watch his dreams crumble, made contact with several criminals. An anonymous benefactor offered to help keep the company afloat in exchange for using NeoDyne's legitimate shipping operations as cover for their illegal activities.

Before he could be arrested, Chezar disappeared into the criminal underground, but not before sending Laton an anonymous message through the station's public comm system: "You chose them over me. Over everything we built together. I swear by the void between stars, you'll understand what real betrayal feels like."
