Level 1
Bardic Inspiration
You can supernaturally inspire others through words, music, or dance. This inspiration is represented by your Bardic Inspiration die, which is a d6.
Using Bardic Inspiration. As a Bonus Action, you can expend a Bardic Inspiration die to inspire another creature within 18 meters of yourself who can see or hear you. That creature gains one of your Bardic Inspiration Die. A creature can have only one Bardic Inspiration die at a time. Once within the next hour when the creature fails a D20 Test, the creature can roll the Bardic Inspiration die and add the number rolled to the d20, potentially turning the failure into a success. A Bardic Inspiration die is expended when it's rolled.
Number of Uses. You have a number of Bardic Dice equal your Charisma modifier (minimum of one), and you regain all of your expended dice when you finish a short or long rest.
At Higher Levels. Your Bardic Inspiration die changes when you reach certain Bard levels, as shown in the Bardic Die column of the Bard Features table.
Bard Archetype
Choose your Bard archetype between Wondrous Bard and Virtuous Bard, which decides how your Bard uses their abilities.
Wondrous Bard
You can supernaturally inspire others through words, music, or dance; and you can cast spells through your bardic arts by attuning to the Song of Creation. You gain the Spellcasting feature (see below).
Spellcasting
Cantrips. You know two cantrips of your choice from the Bard spell list. Whenever you gain a Bard level, you can replace one of your cantrips with another cantrip of your choice from the Bard spell list. When you reach Bard levels 4 and 10, you learn another cantrip of your choice from the Bard spell list, as shown in the Cantrips column of the Bard Spellcasting table (see below).
Spell Slots. The Bard Features table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your level 1+ spells. You regain all expended slots when you finish a Long Rest.
Known Spells of Level 1+. To start, choose four level 1 spells from the Bard spell list. You learn the chosen spells and they become Bard spells for you.
The number of spells on your list increases as you gain Bard levels, as shown in the Known Spells column of the Bard Spellcasting table. Whenever that number increases, choose additional spells from the Bard spell list until the number of spells on your list matches the number on the table. The chosen spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For example, if you're a level 3 Bard, your list of prepared spells can include six spells of levels 1 and 2 in any combination.
If another Bard feature gives you spells that you always have prepared, those spells don't count against the number of spells you can prepare with this feature, but those spells otherwise count as Bard spells for you.
Changing Your Known Spells. Whenever you gain a Bard level, you can replace one spell on your list with another Bard spell for which you have spell slots.
Spellcasting Ability. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for your Bard spells.
Spellcasting Focus. You can use a Musical Instrument as a Spellcasting Focus for your Bard spells.

Virtuous Bard
You can inspire and effect the world around you using your virtuous bardic arts and a variety of skills. You gain the following features:
Extra Bardic Dice. Your maximum number of Bardic Inspiration Dice increases by half your Bard level (rounded down), and you can cast the Vicious Mockery cantrip at will. Charisma is your spellcasting modifier for it.
Swordplay. You gain proficiency with martial weapons with the Finesse property, and armor training with medium armor.
Bardic Cantos. You gain access to Bardic Cantos (see below).
Bardic Cantos
Your skill in speech and song has granted you certain talents. You learn four bardic cantos of your choice. When you gain certain bard levels, you learn additional cantos of your choice, as shown in the Cantos Learned column of the Bardic Cantos table (see below). A level prerequisite refers to your level in this class. When you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the Bardic Cantos you know and replace it with another that you could learn at that level.
Some Bardic Cantos require your target to make a saving throw to resist the feature’s effects. The saving throw DC is calculated as follows: Canto save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier.
Recitals. Some cantos reference a ‘Recital.’ A Recital produces an ongoing effect for as long as you maintain concentration on it, as if on a spell. As with spells, you can only concentrate on one Recital at a time, and you can't concentrate on a spell and Canto simultaneously. If a creature can no longer see or hear your Recital (such as if it becomes blinded or deafened), the recital’s effects end on that creature.

Level 2
Folklore
Choose one skill or one tool, and one non-magical language. You are now proficient in this skill or tool, and learn to speak, read, and write that language. If you choose a skill or tool that you are already proficient in, you gain expertise instead.
You choose another skill or one tool, and another language at Bard levels 6, 9, 14 and 18.

Level 3
Bardic Style
Choose a Bard subclass that best represents the varied skills, talents, and knowledge you have gained in your many travels, performances and training.

Level 4
Ability Score Improvement
You gain the Ability Score Improvement feat or another feat of your choice for which you qualify. You gain this feature again at Bard levels 8, 12, and 16.

Level 5
Font of Inspiration
You now regain all your expended uses of Bardic Inspiration when you finish a Short or Long Rest. In addition, your Archetype grants you an additional feature:
Wondrous Bard. You can expend a spell slot (no action required) to regain one expended use of Bardic Inspiration.
Virtuous Bard. You gain the Extra Attack feature: Whenever you take the Attack action, you can make two weapons attacks instead of one.

Level 7
Countercharm
You can use musical notes or words of power to disrupt mind-influencing effects. If you or a creature within 9 meters of you fails a saving throw against an effect that applies the Charmed or Frightened condition, you can take a Reaction to cause the save to be rerolled, and the new roll has Advantage.

Level 10
Expert Bardic Archetype
Your Bardic Archetype grants you additional features.
Wondrous Bard
Magical Secrets. You've learned secrets from various magical traditions. Whenever you reach a Bard level (including this level) and the Known Spells number in the Bard Spellcasting table increases, you can choose any of your new known spells from the Bard, Cleric, Druid, Psion, and Wizard spell lists, and the chosen spells count as Bard spells for you. In addition, whenever you replace a known spell, you can replace it with a spell from those lists.
Virtuous Bard
Words of Power. You have learned to shape the fundamental powers of the universe with your voice alone. You learn the spell divine word. You learn more spells at certain Bard levels:
At 14th level, you learn the spell power word: stun.
At 18th level, you learn the spells power word: kill and power word: heal.
You can cast each spell once before you must complete a long rest to do so again.

Level 19
Epic Boon
You gain an Epic Boon feat or another feat of your choice for which you qualify.

Level 20
Bardic Mastery
You have mastered the Bardic Arts. You regain all expended Bardic Inspiration Dice at the start of each of your turns.
