Tool Proficiency Needed: Woodcarver's Tools
Learning Recipes
At the start of the campaign or whenever the player character gains proficiency in Woodcarver's Tools, they can pick a number of common recipes to learn equal to their current proficiency bonus (this varies with background for starting characters). Arrow and bolt recipes count as separate recipes, though with the same ingredient requirements.
To learn additional recipes, the player character must buy recipes at vendors or loot them from quests.

Arrows & Bolts
For the purposes of crafting, each of these recipes on the list count as two different recipes: an Arrow recipe and a Bolt recipe. Learning the recipe for an arrow does not give the player its bolt recipe counterpart!
Arrow/Bolt Crafting Time
Crafting a recipe takes time, which scales with the rarity of the recipe:
Common: 20 minutes
Uncommon: 2 hours
Rare: 4 hours

When using this arrow with a ranged weapon attack, your attack deals bludgeoning damage instead of piercing upon hitting. |
Acid | Common | 1 Arrow (any mundane) + 2 Acid Dew | A mundane arrow infused with a small amount of elemental magic residue. When hitting a ranged weapon attack while using this arrow, the target takes normal weapon damage plus 1d4 acid damage. |

Smoke | Common | 1 Arrow (any mundane) + 1 Ashblossom | When used as ammunition in a weapon attack, deals weapon damage without additional effects. However, upon impact against a creature or surface, the arrow sheds smoke in a 10ft radial sphere that covers the area in non-magical darkness for 1 minute. Creature with darkvision can see through this darkness, and a strong gust of wind can disperse the smoke. |
Blight | Uncommon | 1 Arrow (any mundane) + 1 Blight Spores | A mundane arrow infused blight spores. When hitting a ranged weapon attack while using this arrow, the target takes normal weapon damage plus 1d6 necrotic damage, and becomes Blighted for one round. |
Glass-Tipped | Uncommon | 1 Arrow (any mundane) + 4 Glass | This arrow has a high quality ceramic tip and is very lightly enchanted so that it thoroughly shatters on impact after flying and evaporates its contents. This arrow deals no damage, but can be filled with the contents of a vial or other small consumables, including a potion or poison. When hitting a target with this arrow, it instead applies the effects of the consumable in the arrow. Weapon attacks with this arrow against friendly targets always hit. |
Silver | Uncommon | 1 Arrow (any mundane) + 1 Powdered Silver | An arrow with a tip made of pure silver, frequently used against magical creatures such as Fey or Monstrosities. When using this arrow as ammunition, your attack ignores resistance to non-silvered physical resistance. |
Holy | Rare | 1 Feather + 1 Arrowshaft + 1 Arrowhead + 1 White Ghost Orchid Seed | These arrows shine with a holy brilliance, and weapon attacks that use them as ammunition count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance. When hitting a ranged weapon attack while using this arrow, the target takes normal weapon damage plus 1d8 radiant damage and sheds bright light within 5ft and dim light for an additional 5ft, for one round. While shedding light in this way, the target is unable to go invisible. |
Mageacid | Rare | 1 Arrow (any mundane) + 2 Acid Dew + 1 Powdered Lyricite | A magical acid arrow enhanced by lyricite. Weapon attacks made with this arrow as ammunition count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances, deal 2d6 additional acid damage, and the target must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or become Corroded. |
Magefire | Rare | 1 Arrow (any mundane) + 2 Flame Lily + 1 Powdered Lyricite | A magical fire arrow enhanced by lyricite. Weapon attacks made with this arrow as ammunition count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances, deal 2d6 additional fire damage, and the target must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or start Burning. |
Mageice | Rare | 1 Arrow (any mundane) + 2 Frost Lichen + 1 Powdered Lyricite | A magical ice arrow enhanced by lyricite. Weapon attacks made with this arrow as ammunition count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances, deal 2d6 additional cold damage, and the target must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone and have their movement speed reduced by half. |

Wooden Figurines
Wooden Figures are small folkloric, artistic or religious items that can be crafted using the Woodcarver's Tools, and provide small magical bonuses when the player attunes to them. The player can only attune to one figurine. Attuning to a figurine requires a Short Rest.

Crafting a recipe takes time, which scales with the rarity of the recipe:

Uncommon: 24 hours
Rare: 48 hours

You have advantage on all saving throws made against weather or environmental effects, both magical and mundane. |
Dog | Common | x2 of any Common wood | A playful pup, tongue lolling, lovingly carved. It radiates loyalty and an uncanny emotional awareness. You gain advantage on all Insight checks made to determine a person's current feelings or mood. |
Deer | Common | x2 of any Common wood | Gracefully poised mid-step, the deer figurine seems ready to spring away at any moment. A lightness fills your step when it's near. Your walking speed increases by +5 feet. |
Owl | Common | x2 of any Common wood | The owl stares with wide, wise eyes. Scholars often carry this symbol of knowledge, claiming it helps them remember even long-forgotten lore. You gain a +1 to all Arcana and History checks. |
Rabbit | Common | x2 of any Common wood | A plump rabbit crouches as though ready to bolt. It’s said that carrying this figure keeps you one step ahead of danger. You gain a +1 to all Dexterity saving throws. |
Rhino | Uncommon | x2 of any Uncommon wood | This rhino is carved with a horn that seems slightly oversized. It pulses with surging momentum and earthbound power. You add your Constitution modifier to your initiative rolls. |
Snail | Uncommon | x2 of any Uncommon wood | A tiny shell spirals inward with obsessive precision. When held, you feel rooted and steady, like nothing could push you from your spot. You have advantage on checks and saving throws made to resist being grappled or shoved, and you cannot be moved against your will. |
Spider | Uncommon | x2 of any Uncommon wood | This sleek wooden spider seems to twitch when held. Its legs are carved so finely they look ready to scuttle. |
Deity | Uncommon | x2 of any Uncommon wood | This figurine varies by the deity chosen during crafting and carries a subtle divine aura. You gain a bonus of +1 to all Religion checks, and resistance to Radiant damage. |
Shield | Uncommon | x2 of any Uncommon wood | Shaped like a round shield with an animal emblem, this piece gleams subtly even in shadow. Once per Short Rest, you can use an action to gain temporary HP equal to your double your proficiency bonus. |

Idol | Uncommon | x2 of any Uncommon wood | Mysterious and ancient-looking, this figurine holds a fortune to those that keep it close. Once per Short Rest, you can use an action to grant yourself inspiration. |
Totem of War | Rare | x3 of any Rare wood | This totem is imbued with a spirit of conflict. You feel adrenaline swell the moment you’re thrust into battle. Once per long rest, you can use an action to grant yourself its blessing. The next time you deal damage to another creature with an attack, spell or feature, you deal critical damage. |
Totem of Wisdom | Rare | x3 of any Rare wood | Carved from quality wood, the Totem of Wisdom bears a serene face. Whispering winds swirl around it when danger nears, and a clarity enters your mind. You are immune to being Frightened or Charmed. |
Totem of Freedom | Rare | x3 of any Rare wood | Carved from quality wood, this airy totem bears wings unfurled. Wind follows its bearer. Once per long rest, you can use a reaction to cleanse yourself of any effect slowing your movement, as well as the Restrained, the Paralyzed and the Petrified conditions. |
