The owlin are a rare and mysterious race, known for their nocturnal habits and remote, arctic lifestyle. They thrive in isolation within the icy forests of Thuul, a frozen province covered in dense pines and rugged terrain. This solitude has fostered a distinct culture, where they are largely untouched by outside influences. The owlin are quiet by nature, preferring to live and hunt under the cover of darkness, which allows them to blend seamlessly into their cold, shadowed world. They are discerning individuals who value others for their inner qualities rather than outward appearance.

Owlin have a deep-rooted love for knowledge and often aim to amass personal libraries over their lifetimes, leading many to become avid readers and scholars. Their silent demeanor and natural stealth make them exceptional rangers and rogues, roles that suit both their environment and personalities well. However, their wisdom and dedication to learning also make them respected wizards and clerics, professions that allow them to expand their knowledge while contributing to their communities.

Owlin Traits

Age. Like humans, owlin reach adulthood in their late teens and can live into their 80s.

Size. Owlin are about 5 feet tall. They have lightweight bodies that weigh between 80 and 100 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed. 30 feet, fly equal to your walking speed.

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of yourself as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Flight. Thanks to your wings, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed. You can't use this flying speed if you're wearing medium or heavy armor.

Dive Attack. If you are flying and dive at least 30 ft. straight toward a target and then hit it with a melee attack, the attack deals an extra 1d6 damage to the target.

Talons. You have talons that you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Owlin Vision. You can’t be flanked and attacking at long range doesn't impose disadvantage on your ranged weapon attack rolls.
