Prongi are a diverse group of amphibian-like beings dwelling in remote forests, marshes, and other untamed wilderness far from civilized lands. Known for their curiosity, the few prongi who venture into human realms are often loyal and energetic companions, fascinated by the marvels of urban life. However, the natural world they inhabit is harsh; only one out of ten prongi offspring survive their first year, and a similarly small fraction live to reproduce, leading them to lay hundreds of eggs to ensure the species' survival. Prongi villages prefer to stay isolated, fostering unique customs and adaptations suited to their environment, whether in swampy marshlands, dense jungles, or even arid deserts.
Prongi appearance and culture vary significantly by region, as their features adapt to local climates and ecosystems. This diversity has led to frequent misunderstandings between scholars and explorers, who often misclassify different prongi colonies as separate races or mistakenly view unique groups as one and the same. Most prongi rarely interact with broader civilizations, although some individuals may venture beyond their secluded villages, driven by a desire to explore. These explorers often face culture shock, and while many return home after a few years, others are so enchanted by the outside world that they spend their lives as travelers, forever seeking the thrill of new experiences.
