So after writing 1.1 - Plot, Full Player Version, I looked back over the lesson, and realized that the instructions were to summarize the plot as simply as possible in 8 paragraphs. I decidedly had not done that, so here's my go at the ✨ Actual Assignment ✨—no frills or flowers about it.
The world of Edeni was once guarded by two goddesses, the Sun and the Night. The Sun brought fervor, warmth, and growth, while the Night represented protection, rest, and tranquility. Together, they kept Edeni safe from the forces of the Void, a dark and chaotic otherwordly force that threatened to consume everything.
But over time, the Night grew resentful, feeling that mortals took her gifts for granted and relied too heavily on her protection. Her frustration boiled over, and she unleashed dark horrors on the most prosperous kingdom of mortals, reducing it to ash and ruin. The Sun, heartbroken by her lover’s actions, rose to stop her. They clashed in a fierce battle, and though the Sun ultimately overpowered her, it came at a great cost. The Sun Goddess bound the Night in an eternal sleep, but the battle drained her strength, and she too fell into a deep slumber.
With the goddesses gone, Edeni was left without divine protection. In their absence, the people of Edeni turned against each other. The sun elves, followers of the Sun, rose to power and drove the dark elves and dwarves—the instigators of this conflict—underground. For a time, the sun elves ruled the land above, dividing resources fairly among the remaining surface-dwellers and bringing about a temporary peace peace.
Recently, however, strange chasms have opened across the land, releasing creatures and shadows from the Void. These twisted beings brought chaos, and people began to fear that the Void was returning to reclaim Edeni. Meanwhile, whispers spread that the Sun Goddess was beginning to stir from her slumber. Some people hoped for her return to bring order and protection once more. But not everyone welcomed this possibility; some had grown used to life without her, while others feared a return to strict divine rule.
Then, a massive chasm opened in the middle of the ocean, a deep and gaping hole that seemed endless. Explorers who ventured inside found ancient ruins, strange plants that seemed to thrive without sunlight, and artifacts from a forgotten time. They also encountered horrifying creatures that massacred many early adventurers. Despite that, this discovery sparked a rush of adventurers hoping to claim riches or secrets hidden within this abyss, which they named Sunhallow.
Around the edge of Sunhallow, a city called Fortune’s Rest sprang up. Built for those who brave the chasm, Fortune’s Rest became a rough, cutthroat place where divers descend in search of ancient relics and sell their finds to the highest bidder, from factions to black market dealers. The city has no real law, only the rule of strength, and every interaction is made with caution and risk.
Recently, the sun elves sent Solstice, a floating fortress, to hover above Fortune’s Rest. From this fortress, the Solari (elite sun elven warriors) watch over the happenings of the city. Their presence has stirred suspicion among the lawless locals.
In the bustling streets of Fortune’s Rest, merchants and divers prepare for another day of risk and reward. And below their feet, the secrets of Sunhallow lie waiting to be discovered.
