"Only the Dwarves would be capable of such a place. The mechanical marvels of Port Hellstone are truly one of their greatest achievements." - An awe-struck visitor
The Dwarves of Gevadun were the first to infiltrate The Chasm after the Foul invasion. They utilized the Ironhearts' Chasm-resistant properties to establish a large floating port anchored in the Burnstead Sea, which is composed of lava and fire. This port, known as Port Hellstone, is secured to the seafloor with adamantine chains and has become one of the three safe locations in The Chasm for travelers from Gevadun. All Dwarven governments send delegations to Port Hellstone, making it one of the rare ventures with Dwarven involvement from every citadel. The primary purpose of Port Hellstone is to monitor activities within The Chasm. After the Foul invasion, the various governments of Gevadun could no longer deny the existence or the dangers posed by The Chasm. Following the invasion, many of Gevadun's governments hesitated on how to move forward. However, the Dwarven Citadels took the initiative to establish a foothold in The Chasm while the Foul forces were regrouping. Currently, a standing force protects Port Hellstone, and Gevadun's Foul experts are stationed there to observe the movements throughout The Chasm. Port Hellstone has also proven to be a successful economic venture, providing an avenue for the rest of Gevadun to acquire valuable resources and goods from The Chasm. Anyone wishing to travel to Port Hellstone must undergo an extensive customs procedure, as the port's security is paramount to safeguarding Gevadun from another Foul invasion. Port Hellstone is comparable in size to many small cities and maintains a standing army and fleet capable of navigating the Burnstead Sea.
