The Erael Kingdom

Overview

The Erael Kingdom is located in the southwest corner of Sindare, with its capital city, Valehur, serving as the center of its government. Known for its strong connection to the natural world, the Erael Kingdom acts as a sanctuary for wildlife and various creatures, including woodland animals and Fey Sprites. The kingdom generally steers clear of political entanglements with Sindare and the rest of Gevadun. This avoidance is not rooted in notions of racial superiority or an isolationist policy; rather, it stems from a lack of interest in the complex political machinations of those in power. The government of Erael focuses on caring for its people and managing its land effectively. As a result, the kingdom boasts some of the healthiest landscapes in Gevadun, and its inhabitants are among the happiest.


Government Operation

The Erael Kingdom is traditionally ruled by a queen who exercises complete control. What makes this kingdom unique is its two distinct advisory courts: one comprised of citizens and another made up entirely of fey creatures. Members of both courts play a crucial role in informing the queen about the kingdom's issues and serving as ambassadors to other nations in Gevadun.

The courts in the Erael Kingdom are open to all citizens, allowing anyone to request an audience with the queen to voice their concerns or issues. This practice makes the Erael Kingdom more accessible to commoners compared to other kingdoms in Sindare.

Additionally, the Erael Kingdom is committed to protecting nature through its legislation and provides financial support to The Verdant Grasp.

Queen/King of Erael: The monarch of The Erael Kingdom with complete control. Traditionally, a Queen, but kings have ruled in the past. 

Royal Steward: One of the court members or a specifically chosen individual who advises the queen and assists in the governing of the nation. 

Arborist: Arborists are essentially mayors who govern the minor towns and villages dotted around the kingdom. They report monthly to the queen to inform them of the reaches of the kingdom.


Military

The military of the Erael Kingdom has always been led by a single individual, Old Bush Beard, an ancient Treant who resides in Valehur. Long ago, Bush Beard swore complete loyalty to every king and queen of the Erael Kingdom, and now he serves as the commander of the entire military. He selects worthy individuals to become his Oak Knights, who are specially trained warriors skilled in guerrilla warfare and surprise tactics. These knights play a crucial role in organizing the military.

As the Erael Kingdom is not a belligerent state, its focus is primarily on defensive strategies and tactics. The army is neither well-paid nor abundantly equipped, but the soldiers are dedicated to protecting their homeland and preserving its natural beauty.

Bush Beard: The high commander of The Erael Kingdom’s army is Bush Beard. He devises the nation's defensive plans, as well as personally creating fortifications in the woods of Old Growth

Oak Knight: A warrior chosen by Bush Beard to act as a leader of the Thorn Raiders. There are many Oak Knights, and more senior members are considered to have more pull than younger members. 

Old Growth Rangers: Independent rangers who are personally equipped and trained. Some members act as the queen's personal guard while others patrol The Erael Kingdom.

Thorn Raiders: The ordinary soldiers of The Erael Kingdom who answer to the Oak Knights. They are poorly paid and equipped, but they are near fanatical in protecting the kingdom. They are experts at producing and utilizing makeshift weapons and traps.
