Scorpio is the capital of The Raxudia Trading Dynasty, a colossal city that thrives on wealth. The surrounding desert has a dusty red hue, matching the dull red sandstone that makes up the city. This red sandstone has earned the city of Scorpio the nickname "The Red City." Although they lack natural foodstuffs and building materials, the city is wealthy due to the rich deposits of precious metals and gems in the surrounding areas. Diamonds are said to have played a pivotal role in the establishment of Scorpio, and to this day, the city exports more diamonds than any other. The ruling body of Scorpio and the Raxudia Dynasty is the Scorpions, a coalition of thirteen powerful families. These families are cutthroat traders who take a much more hands-on approach to governance than those affiliated with The Alomod Merchant Guilds. Scorpio's immense wealth has attracted a diverse array of reputable and unscrupulous mages. Most intellectuals work for the Dynasty in various roles, including clerks, associates, advisors, or court wizards. Additionally, Scorpio is home to the Silver Phoenix mint, where the currency is produced. This facility is heavily guarded by a small army, making it one of the most secure locations in Scorpio and perhaps all of Gevadun.
