Environment
While Bail is often considered the tamest realm in terms of its natural environment, this is misleading, as it has many dangerous and wild locations. The landscapes that comprise Bail are forests, fields, plains, swamps, and tundras. That may seem like a lot of different environments, but compared to the other realms, Bail is plain. What is far more interesting about Bail is its politics. The leaders of the kingdoms are the most cutthroat people you will ever meet. Being a king in Bail is anything but a pleasant time, and you must be one of the most cunning individuals if you want to succeed. Bail was the home of the legendary hero Gevadun, the namesake man who gave his life for the universe we inhabit. Bail is generally wholesome, and while danger can lurk around every corner, it is a fine place to live.
People
Bail is the ancestral home of Humans and hosts a variety of governments. Generally, Humans are practical, determined, meticulous, and quick to anger. Compared to some other peoples of Gevadun, Humans have shorter lifespans, which motivates them to be frugal and efficient with their time. While other races in Gevadun may adopt an idealistic approach, Humans tend to be brutal realists. They value community, hard work, and reciprocity, with nearly every Human culture emphasizing the importance of paying debts and staying in good standing with others. Humans have a strong will and an almost indomitable spirit that allows them to unite and weather the harshest situations. Their architecture reflects this practical and stoic nature; typical buildings in Bail feature stone foundations that support timber frames, wooden walls, and shingled or thatched roofs. However, this doesn’t mean Humans lack creativity or attention to detail. Many prominent structures in Bail, such as the cathedrals and palaces, are quite ornate, using inlaid metals, fine wood, and stonework to adorn them.
