Tribal Weaponry

Distinguished Leonin warriors primarily wield one of four traditional tribal weapons. Mastering these weapons demands immense skill and strength, so only those who have trained extensively can use them effectively. Not every Leonin has the opportunity to wield a tribal weapon, which is why the humble and straightforward spear is among the most commonly used weapons among Leonin rank-and-file warriors. However, among the upper echelon of the warrior caste, it is a rarity for a warrior to use anything other than one of the four traditional weapons.

Klax

The Klax is a large, axe-like weapon used by the wilder Leonin. It has a short handle, typically measuring between 8 and 10 inches in length, attached to the axe head. A long chain with a sharpened dart or spiked ball at the other end is attached to this short handle. The head of the Klax can vary in design, but it typically weighs between 10 and 30 pounds and features a broad, bearded head. The dart or ball attacks enemies from range, while the heavy, short-hafted axe delivers quick and devastating strikes at close distance.

Sho-Ka

The Shoka is a versatile weapon that initially appears to be a massive curved blade without a handle. Holes running along the blade provide numerous grip positions for the wielder. The design of the Shoka allows it to be used as a bow as well, and a sturdy string and quiver are essential components of a Shoka wielder's kit. Swinging the Shoka during a duel is generally impractical unless the wielder possesses immense strength. Instead, the intent is to knock opponents to the ground and use the weapon to chop, much like using a cutting board and a chef's knife to chop a radish. The Shoka is the premier tribal weapon of the Leonin, being heralded as the noblest of weapons in Leonin's oral history.

Salba

The Salba is a haft with a cross-shaped blade at both ends, typically measuring between 6 and 8 feet in length. The more agile Leonin favors this weapon, as it allows them to highlight their athletic skills. Users employ a rapid spinning motion to build speed and disorient their enemies. Wild strikes can be launched from a distance with the Salba, and with blades on both ends, the user remains a continuous threat to opponents.

M'Bei

The last tribal weapon is the M’Bei, a dagger-like weapon that features an oversized handguard. The blade typically measures between 12 and 16 inches and is straight. However, the distinctive feature of the M’Bei is its substantial hand guard, often adorned with spikes or blades. The M’Bei serves as both a punching weapon and a thrusting knife. While commonly seen as a secondary weapon, it is the sole choice for some Leonin, who wield it with deadly effectiveness.
