Enivroment

The distant and mysterious lands of Praetoria are characterized by tall jungles, rolling savannas, tropical islands, and deep, warm oceans. Praetoria was discovered by the rest of Gevadun during the Era of Heroes, marking a significant event in that period. However, the relationship between Praetoria and the other nations of Gevadun has been rocky; two of the three sovereignties harbor distrust toward some of Gevadun's leaders. The only kingdom that has openly engaged with the people of Gevadun is the Tabaxi kingdom of Bestia Amicus. All inhabitants of Praetoria possess a fair amount of silver in their blood, which makes them naturally resistant to Foul corruption. Notably, Praetoria is not mentioned in any histories or myths about the creation of the universe, leading many to speculate about its origins and whether there are more realms hidden within The Deep Astral Sea.

People

Praetoria is the ancestral home of the Leonin, Tabaxi, and Triton, who arrived in Gevadun during the Era of Heroes when the realm of Praetoria was discovered. The Leonin are known for their pride, boisterousness, honor, and aggression. Their culture celebrates a balance between competitiveness and spirituality, emphasizing the importance of hunting and living off the land. Leonin individuals constantly seek voluntary adversity, challenging themselves at every opportunity. The Tabaxi are socially awkward, humble, focused, and crafty. Their culture values hard work, dedication, and respect, strongly emphasizing discovery. For a Tabaxi, work is life, and they evaluate others based on their skills within that profession, not their profession itself. While they appreciate the significance of family and other aspects of life, their work often occupies a central place in their thoughts. The Triton are characterized by their honor, callousness, patriotism, and deep affinity for water. Triton culture emphasizes the ideals of honor, duty, and sacrifice, with a strong emphasis on submission to the state. All Triton are citizens of Imperium Untium, and serving the empire is a cultural obligation.

In terms of architecture, Leonin structures reflect aspects of Ork architecture. The primary buildings are tents and huts, typically no taller than two stories. Stone is rarely used in Leonin construction; their short tribal buildings are adorned with hides, bones, and murals depicting great triumphs. Wooden stakes and the bones of animals form the frames for the leather tents that create Leonin cities and towns. Tabaxi architecture is distinguished by carefully crafted wooden structures nestled in the trees of Southeastern Praetoria. Tabaxi carpenters and joiners are masters at their craft, creating expertly constructed treehouses and their few ground-dwelling buildings decorated with intricate carvings. Their architectural style prioritizes height over width, resulting in tall, slender buildings with large openings serving as windows. Triton architecture utilizes the natural caves and structures of the ocean as the foundation for its expansive underwater cities. They use crushed coral to create concrete and incorporate enormous shells and bones of sea creatures to create stunning oceanic structures. Conical and spiral shapes adorn the buildings of Triton society, resulting in breathtaking underwater vistas. On land, Triton structures are much simpler, usually consisting of open-air buildings supported by wooden posts and topped with thatched roofs.

Government

The politics of Praetoria are defined by three central relationships: the fierce rivalry between the Leonin kingdom and the Imperium Untium, the beneficial alliance between the Tabaxi kingdom and the rest of Praetoria, and foreign powers' interest in the realm's natural resources. Together, these relationships create a delicate situation in Praetoria, resembling a political powder keg that could explode violently at any moment.
