Enviroment
The Shattered Peaks are a treacherous and enigmatic region, home to the Dragonborn and their esteemed noble houses. This realm consists of rocky, barren mountaintops with limited natural resources. The residents take great pride in their heritage, which is steeped in history; dragons are believed to be among the oldest creatures and have kept extensive records. Dragon history is recorded on massive, engraved stones known as Drake Slates; these enormous stones narrate the extensive tales of dragon kind. The large cities in The Shattered Peaks are named after the mighty dragons that founded them. It's essential to note that no political map is available for The Shattered Peaks, as the powerful houses operate as independent city-states. This decentralized political system leaves many towns to fend for themselves, with only those close to major cities receiving any form of protection. Despite the harsh conditions in The Shattered Peaks, the houses have formed an uneasy alliance to safeguard the welfare of their people. While The Ancient Dragons were siblings and loved each other accordingly, their descendants do not always share the same camaraderie. The balance of power among these houses is incredibly fragile, and any reckless individual could disrupt the entire system. Nonetheless, the clans strive to work together, and the Clan Speakers play a crucial role in maintaining order among them.
People
The Shattered Peaks are the ancestral home of the Dragons and Dragonborn. Dragons and Dragonborn are noble and valiant beings who take great pride in their heritage. All Dragons descend from the Six Ancient Dragons, and they typically exhibit traits similar to their ancestors. While there are exceptions, it is common for a Dragon to mirror the demeanor of its lineage. The same holds true for Dragonborn, although they tend to have a wider variety of personalities than their winged counterparts. Cultural values among Dragons and Dragonborn can vary based on their ancestry, but they generally emphasize kinship and stoicism. Dragons are known for their sociability and are often outgoing and skilled conversationalists. In contrast, Dragonborn tend to be less adept in conversation, frequently lacking the elegance found in their winged counterparts' dialogue. Dragon architecture is usually hewn from the rugged stone cliffs and jagged edges of the Shattered Peaks. Builders use stone bricks to create durable structures that serve as homes and businesses. While rare, the bones of exceptionally large and old Dragons are sometimes incorporated into buildings designed to honor the deceased and provide shelter for the living. The palaces in the Shattered Peaks prioritize functionality over aesthetics, as they are often required to accommodate massive Dragons. Though not intricate in design, the size and magnitude of these palaces make them as breathtaking as any found elsewhere in the realms.

Government
The politics of The Shattered Peaks are straightforward. The region is not divided into kingdoms; instead, each clan governs a single city. There are rivalries or hostilities among the dragons, but a strong sense of kinship often keeps violence from erupting. Each ruler is accompanied by handpicked advisors, a carefully chosen royal guard, and a hand-chosen Clan Speaker who will act as a delegate. The word of a dragon clan leader is law, and any clan member who directly challenges their authority becomes an outcast. While dissent and discussion are permitted in Dragon and Dragonborn society, insubordination is not tolerated.
