"The water ripples though the night is still. From far across the lake, a soft bell chimes - distant but impossibly clear. The sound lingers in your ears long after, heavy with sorrow. The scent of wet stone clings to you, and in your dreams that night, you walk cobbled streets beneath water you cannot breathe."
The players might be staying at a lakeside inn in Fallow when a young boy disappears from his boat after whispering, “the bell’s for me.” Locals speak of shared dreams and missing pets. The abbotess, Mairin, hires the party to dive into the lake and retrieve a set of sacred relics she claims are “calling for burial.”
Significant NPCs:
Captain Irla Nenn – Retired soldier now working as a fisher; she lost her sister in the flood and dreams of her nightly.
Mairin of the White Hands – Abbotess of Fallow, who believes the bells are a call to finish an incomplete funeral.
The Bellringer – A drowned soul wearing a rusted crown, who calls others to his kingdom beneath the waves.
Rewards:
A bell-chime holy symbol that can dispel undeath once per week.
A shard of the Bellringer’s rusted crown that amplifies divination magic.
A drowned psalm - a spell-song of memory that alters what is remembered and what is forgotten.
Lore Tie-Ins:
Tarnhold was flooded beneath the lake when the dam was built, though all of the locals were said to have been moved out beforehand.
