Tower of the Moon

Out past the borders of the Kingdom of Endon, south of the Iron Mountains, lie the lands that the Goliath Dominion once claimed. On a barren hilltop overlooking the plains, within sight and reach of the Agdu-Ild, sits the Tower of the Moon.

Long used as a waystation for the travellers following the Himminin south, it has since laid abandoned for the many centuries – and opportunists knowing that the goliaths no longer have the reach to protect their relics have taken their advantage, and stolen away the precious celestivere.

Despite this, the Tower of the Moon remains mostly intact, close to the mountains and to the plains, and is still used by any of the goliath pilgrims heading south. The design that all Towers share – the winding exterior path and the horizontal entrance at the summit – discourages the smaller races from moving in, and so, with the exception of those occasional goliath travellers, the Tower plays host only to opportunistic beasts.

On Approaching the Tower of Moon

"The lands around are wild and untamed: ancient forests of gnarled trees divided by rushing rivers and strips of grassland, inhabited only by deer and birds. But on a small hill, the shadows of a great conical structure rise above the trees -- one of the ancient towers of the giants, abandoned now."

A View of the Stars

Most of the Towers within Endon are a stone’s throw away from a village or a city: the goliaths who built the Towers had them placed on high points near fertile lands and lush forests. Now, centuries later, those places are hunting grounds and farmlands, and the wildernesses that the goliaths purposed to step from are inhabited. For this reason, the Towers, while abandoned, are rarely remote in Endon. But this Tower, the Tower of the Moon, is.

It is a considerable distance to the nearest large town, and is therefore the perfect place for outlaws and bandits to hide out. Or, more regularly, for the astonomers from the Veliton School to journey to for their studies.

Winged Entry, Winged Exit

This Tower, purposed for the Himminin pilgrims, is one of a handful to host a skye-door: unlike most giant doors, a door in the side of the Tower, to allow the entry and exit of the skye-kyr of the Cloud Giants. It has been a long time since it was used by the skye-kyr, but the handy entrance makes this Tower perfect for roaming aerial creatures.

Stolen Celestivere

Many of the celestiveres on the Tower ruins have been stolen: some by Kings and lords, some by scholars to display in universities, and – in this case – by the dwarves of Zrakt, hoping to learn the secrets of celestivere bronze.
