"When time was new, and the world was yet un-made, there was only an endless night, peaceful and warm. Like the dreamless sleep of a weary traveller, it lay without form or fury, waiting patiently. There was no sea, there were no mountains, there was no cloud, nor earth, nor beast of the land. There were no goliaths, and there were no giants. All was quiet, and all was calm. This was the way of things."
-- from "Of Creation and the Elder Giants", one of the oldest Goliath myths
There are many facets to prehistory within the Embrace - the wide, fertile valley between the Iron Mountains, in the northern part of the continent - and there is little in the way of evidence. No written records, certainly, save for the murals on the interiors of the Giant Towers, long since worn away by time.
However, those within the Embrace, now the lands of the Kingdom of Endon, acknowledge the Goliath creation myth or that of the major pantheon of the Gods of Arreia.
The First Ones
In which the 'First Ones', occasionally called the "Old Ones" or the "Primordials", were created from the Dreamer and her dream. They created the world, the fundament, and all living creatures, and left it to the legacy of their children.
Gods of Arreia
In which the prehistoric world was formed by the gods, who demand worship and obedience, and in history smote those who dared to rise against them. The ongoing conflicts of the gods often take place through mortal proxies.
