Axabar

Axabar is a red dragon wyrmling encounterable as part of the quest "The Dragon's Hall". He is the main antagonist behind the events of the adventure.

"There is something in the air, a faint hint of... of what? What could possibly be filling the air around you, interloper? What sickly-sweet smell do you give off as you creep uninvited into my presence? Is it fear? I think it is."

Though still young, Axabar exudes an air of arrogance and dominance that belies his size. His scales, a deep crimson with faint orange undertones, glisten with a promise of the fiery power that will one day make him a true terror of the skies.

He takes immense pride in the destructive potential of his fiery breath, practicing its use on unfortunate creatures or those who dare trespass near his lair. Despite his youth, Axabar already commands absolute authority over his kobold servants, using both fear and awe to solidify his position as their god. While his temper is easily stoked, he is calculating in his cruelty, knowing when to unleash his fury and when to bide his time, letting his minions act on his behalf.

Awaiting Draconic Power. Ambition drives Axabar, for he is keenly aware of his draconic lineage and the power that awaits him as he matures. His dreams are filled with visions of towering mountains, hoards of treasure, and armies of loyal followers spreading his influence far and wide. Axabar has a particular hunger for relics and artifacts that can enhance his power, sending his kobold minions on dangerous quests to retrieve items of interest. Already he has claimed a small trove of gold and gems, though his lair remains modest compared to the grandeur he imagines for himself. With every victory, no matter how small, Axabar’s confidence grows, and so too does his cruelty, as he seeks to crush any who question his authority or challenge his rise.

Axabar's Worshippers. The relationship between Axabar and his kobold worshipers is one of mutual benefit, though heavily skewed in the dragon’s favour. The kobolds view him as a divine figure, serving his every whim with fanatical devotion, while Axabar views them as pawns in his grander schemes. He enjoys their adulation, soaking in their offerings and sacrifices as affirmation of his greatness. Yet, his attachment to them is shallow—while he tolerates their presence and makes use of their numbers, he is quick to sacrifice them if it means advancing his goals or securing more power. Axabar sees his kobold followers not as individuals but as extensions of his will, destined to fall in line or perish at his fiery command.

Threats Abound. Despite his youth, Axabar harbors a deep-seated paranoia, believing that others covet the power he is destined to wield. This distrust fuels his constant need for control over his domain, driving him to isolate himself further within the heart of his lair, where only his most loyal kobold priests are allowed access. He often ponders the threats of rival dragons, adventurers, or even more powerful forces that could one day challenge him. Axabar’s paranoia pushes him to be ruthless and proactive, as he preemptively seeks to eliminate any potential threat to his growing influence. His ambitions are tempered only by his desire to survive long enough to see his visions of domination realized.
