Lykomedes

One of the possible quest-givers for the adventure "The Crystal Light", he can be encountered in many different locations, including in his tower, which appears in both Shallowport and Riverbend.

"I trust you understand the need for discretion. You retrieve the crystal, I pay you well, and we pretend we never met. It’s cleaner that way."

The wizard Lykomedes is an influential figure in the Kingdom of Endon - possibly only because of his constant scheming, planning, and gathering of power. He has a magic tower and an ongoing relationship with the Kingdom, which includes his services as the 'town wizard' for Shallowport and Riverbend (locations some dozens of miles distant, though his tower - the same tower - appears in both).

Description

Normally a tall, severe-looking man with a bald crown, piercing black eyes, and long pale robes embroidered with arcane sigils. In disguise, he takes on the appearance of a ragged beggar with a matted hood and a chipped wooden staff. Regardless of form, his eyes are calculating.

Traits and Motivations

The wizard Lykomedes is highly articulate, aloof; sometimes slips into magical jargon, he is coldly intelligent, risk-averse, and secretive. He always searches for the next experiment or bargain to gain more power and information: in "The Crystal Light", he wants a crystal for magical experimentation or leverage. He does not wish to be connected to what he considers a “dirty” venture, but he is desperate enough to trust adventurers with it.

The wizard rarely shows emotion, except disdain or impatience. Will avoid answering questions directly, instead redirecting or obfuscating.
