"He was the greatest of the Elder Giants. Taller than the mountains, prouder than the night, darker than the depths of the sea. His was a soul that burned with such intensity that it would block out everything else: to stand in his presence was to look directly into the noonday sun."
-- from "The Lay of Days", a Goliath history ballad
Harasib, sometimes called the Dawnfather or Gigaporit, was the chief of the Elder Giants in the first ages of Arreia, the father of the Titans and the first Giants, and the architect of the Little Folk. He was the consort of Ithilenna, and widely remembered as a protector, attempting to protect the legacy of the Elder Giants from destruction.
Harasib was born into the world is one of the first of the Elder Giants and made his domain in the valley of endon which he called the embrace over the course of several millennia he and Ithilenna brought the Titans into the world, first developed the runemagicks, and then became the progenitors of the giants, the goliaths, and the other lesser races.
Early Days
Little is known about Harasib's early days presumably who fought in the war of the first ones but his decisions and actions in that conflict are unknown. All that is known as the following the War, during the peace that was brokered after the complete destruction of the Radiant and the Necrist, he deliberately developed the Titans as a protective measure.
The Titans and the Runes
Together with his consort Ithilenna, Harasib developed the Titans -- tying them each to one of the rune magics. The eldest of his sons was Atalas, but following the development of ten more Titans, he moved to his work in harnessing the power of the runes, creating the written language, and breeding and training the elemental Giants.
He has mentioned as being completely involved in and present at the birth of the first of the Storm Giants, questioning Üll, the first of the Storm Giants, on his power and abilities. It was at Üll request that he developed the other elemental Giants, beginning with the Cloud Giants and moving on.
The Prophecy and the Fall
At some point, it became known to Harasib that the conflict with the Elder Dragons was not finished and in tandem with the efforts of his foe Ahzuraband, Harasib developed the last of the twelve Titans — the titan of the Rune of Night, Yverandim. In secret, he descended into the Underdark with the last of his sons, gave him the task, and then laid down to die, creating the place now known as Harasib's Grave.
