The adventure beneath the hills of Firbost Forest in the old ruin of Lord Gladsvain's Hall focusses mainly on the introduction of role-play and investigation to your players. The map is simple, the combat is optional, and the intent of the adventure is to challenge your players to solve problems in new and interesting ways.
A tribe of goblins has excavated the ruins beneath the ridge. They do not intend to attack the nearby humans, but the townsfolk of Lunaris, a days’ journey away, have discovered their efforts and want them eliminated. The players must decide how best to deal with the goblins and the townsfolk, and the consequences of their decision.
Adventure Synopsis
The Adventure of the Excavated Ruin-Warren, or Lord Gladsvain’s Hall, features goblins and an ogre. Forced by a harsh winter down into the more fertile lowlands, they do not have the strength to repel the despite of their human neighbours, who are – perhaps justly – extremely suspicious of their motives. They have excavated an old ruin, which contains the treasure and artifacts belonging to the near-mythical Lord Gladsvain.
There are several encounters that will follow after the meeting at Lord Gladsvain’s Hall, depending on which side the players choose, and how well they negotiated between the two. A successful outcome will require them to be fair, wise, and thorough in their actions.
Their adventure will take them to two locations:
Lunaris. The City of the Moon, the nearest town to the ruin at Firbost Forest. It is more of a town than a ruin, but an ancient history combined with some extravagant architecture lends itself to a grander feeling than the settlement perhaps deserves. This is where the adventure begins, and depending on the players’ choices is the site for an encounter as well as the conclusion.
Lord Gladsvain's Hall. The ruin beneath Firbost Forest consists of a large cave system. There are several antechambers to the main hall, and the players will be tested by dead ends, unexpected challenges, and the lure of easy reward.
