One of the minor NPCs from the adventure "The Dragon's Hall", living in Shepshed.
"Oh, don’t mind Dugarth Shornshod. He’s all bark and no brains when it comes to people. Now sit down—what have you seen out there?"
Deirdre is the soul of the Welcome Inn and the warmth that softens the village’s rough edges. She’s just returned from a supply run to Llanybydder, where she overheard news of the southern commotion. Unlike her husband, Dugarth Shornshod, she listens carefully and encourages her son’s curiosity, firmly believing there’s more to the crater incident than a falling rock.
Description
She is a tall, sturdy gnomish woman in her forties with callused hands, sharp eyes, and a ready smile. Her hair is tied up in a patterned scarf, and her sleeves are always rolled. Her manner is brisk but affectionate, with a keen intuition for people’s moods. Despite the grime of the inn, she carries herself with tidy composure and quiet confidence.
Traits and Motivations
Deirdre is compassionate and pragmatic, a grounding presence who believes in hard work and keeping an open mind. She is protective of her family, especially Fenton Shornshod, and sees in him a spark of wonder the village lacks. Though she’s no scholar, she trusts her instincts—and right now, they’re telling her something unnatural passed near Shepshed. She may well be the players’ most valuable ally in earning the village’s trust.
