"Confetti flutters through the air, though no one throws it. The drums beat precisely. The Tempestmen march in silence, burnished white against garlands and laughter. The crowd claps. Then gasps. Then falls completely, unnaturally, silent."
The players are in Helmrest for trade or holiday. They witness a white-armoured figure walk alone through the market, turn to face a statue… and bow. Hours later, dozens arrive, all in step. They offer no explanation — only gestures toward the parade route.
Significant NPCs:
Guildmaster Sael Rynge – A civic leader caught between pleasing the crowd and preventing a panic.
Lysa Kett – A scribe who noticed the Tempestmen are mimicking the exact movements of a parade from thirty years ago.
Heron Ylass – A noble minor who claims to have dreamt the parade the night before — and believes he’ll die when it ends.
Rewards:
A ceremonial ribbon infused with magical momentum — once per week, grants movement without provoking opportunity attacks.
A half-burnt parade schedule with events from both past and future scrawled across it.
A dancer’s mask that hides the wearer from magical scrying — but obscures their voice.
Lore Tie-Ins:
This parade reenacts a moment when a king once silenced a rebellion with music. Now, it may mark the rise of a king who silences with the Voice instead.
