Wyrmroot Hollow

"The wind whistles, and a mire rises from the swamp. A curling mist carries the scent of rich decay that is everywhere in the Greenmarshes. And, just on the edge of hearing, like a dream that lingers in the day, is a faint musical chord, like singing."

The players come to Swansnest to investigate the disappearance of several of the locals. No kidnapping, no thievery, no murders: they just sleepwalk straight into the marshlands nearby and never return. But the Greenmarsh is a wide and untamed wilderness of nature, and there could be anything out there.

How the adventure can run and tie into the world.

Significant NPCs:

  • Eddrin Gullsot – Old marsh-trapper who swears the “singing tree” has returned, just like before the Fen War.

  • Ilma of the Petal Moon – Elven druid convinced that the song is the land healing itself, not a threat.

  • Sergeant Trenn – Local militia leader desperate to keep things quiet before the Duke sends in soldiers.

Rewards:

  • A living shard of heartwood infused with draconic magic.

  • A loyal, spore-touched swamp dog with uncanny tracking senses.

  • A ritual song that can suppress psionic enchantments — or strengthen them.

Lore Tie-Ins:

The dragon was sent in long ago as a scout for the War of the Dragon that is prophecised in the Scalemount Prophecies, but was killed by the Giant of the Greenmarsh Henge and transformed by the magic of the fens.
