One of the minor NPCs from the adventure "The Dragon's Hall", living in Shepshed.
"It wasn’t just a flash, it moved. I saw it fly off. I swear on my flower press!"
Fenton is the innkeeper Dugarth Shornshod’s son and the closest thing Shepshed has to a dreamer. A small, quiet boy of about twelve, he tends the cattle market grounds when it’s not in use and spends his free time wandering the woods and marshes looking for plants to collect. He witnessed the strange event near the crater firsthand and is eager to be believed—but often dismissed by adults as fanciful.
Description
Fenton has a mop of unruly brown hair, grass-stained sleeves, and perpetually muddy boots. His clothes are hand-me-downs from older cousins, and his belt carries a tin whistle, a pocket knife, and a journal full of pressed leaves. He often smells of crushed herbs or damp straw. His wide hazel eyes give him a look of honest intensity, especially when he's excited or nervous.
Traits and Motivations
Curious, gentle, and quietly brave, Fenton wants to be a naturalist more than anything. He’s frustrated by his father’s disapproval and the villagers’ tendency to treat him as a child. Nevertheless, he is observant and sensitive, with a deep love for the natural world—and a growing suspicion that something unnatural has come near Shepshed. He wants to help, but also longs to be taken seriously.
