⛓️ The Gaol
Special Facility — Bastion (Shattered Lands)
The Gaol is a fortified detention facility designed to hold criminals, traitors, cultists, and other dangerous or politically sensitive individuals. Built of reinforced stone, rune-scored iron, and binding wards, it exists not merely to confine—but to assert authority in a world still fractured by the Shattering.
Where walls rise, power follows.

Jailer
The Jailer is the warden of the Gaol—responsible for discipline, security, and the enforcement of sentences. Often a former guard captain, inquisitor, or hardened veteran, the Jailer is bound by oath to uphold the Bastion’s authority.
Duties include:
Preventing escape, bribery, or revolt
Managing prisoners and records
Executing Bastion commands
Coordinating transfers, sentences, or interrogations
🧾 Bastion Command: Commit
Duration: 1 Bastion Turn (1 month of in-game time)
When you issue the Commit command, the Gaol is placed under heightened authority and oversight. The Jailer enforces sentences, extracts value from imprisonment, and ensures the Bastion’s will is carried out.
When issuing this command, choose one of the following Commit directives:
Option A — Hold Fast
Prisoners are securely contained for the duration of the Bastion Turn.
Escape attempts or rescue efforts automatically fail unless the DM determines extraordinary circumstances.
The Gaol gains a reputation for being inescapable.
Option B — Break Silence
The Jailer conducts formal interrogations, leveraging pressure, leverage, or inducement.
At the end of the Bastion Turn, the DM provides one significant piece of actionable intelligence related to a faction, threat, or hidden location.
Option C — Render Judgment
Prisoners are sentenced, transferred, or released in a manner aligned with your Bastion’s authority.
You gain Renown, Influence, or Faction Standing (DM-determined), based on the nature of the prisoners and the judgment rendered.
⚠️ Risks & Consequences
At the DM’s discretion:
High-profile prisoners may attract rescue attempts, bribes, or political pressure
Cruel or unlawful judgments may cost Renown with some factions while strengthening others
Certain prisoners may require additional containment upgrades
