To Steve, As requested Donk, Keres, Draylor, myself, and the new recruit Bellacose headed out along the western road with the help of Bristle, one of our new pack animals, to set up a travel waypoint to help our exploration of the chalk dales.  The first day of the trip was uneventful, and we found a hilltop marked with a large boulder about 12 miles from the city to make camp for the night. When we examined the boulder, we noticed inscriptions that had largely been lost to time and erosion but were able to make out pictographs of hares and the phrase “…it has no eyes, it cannot see…” in olde Tharnic. Camping overnight was largely uneventful, but we did have several rations ruined to a selective frosting effect. Which would continue happening overnight through the trip; be advised that any further scouting parties should pack extra rations. After some investigation, we determined that this area had some sort of connection with the plane of air. I took advantage of the down time at camp to cast indentify on Donk's gaulet, and it is defineley curse.

At the start of the day we had Draylor fly up to scout for the days trip. He saw a bad storm coming in over the horizon to the west (and another Rhinuffalo herd to the south of the city), and we decided to make it as far as we could (ended up being about 4 miles) before hunkering down in a makeshift shelter to let it pass. We were able to find Rhinuffalo dung to burn for a make shift fire; not the best smelling way to keep warm but it’s a good thing we did because the storm flooded most of the gulleys and turned the chalk into a thick paste that would bog us down had we been traveling. We decided to just rest another night to give the roads time to drain.

The third day was uneventful until the middle of night, when we were attacked by several dragon-kin creatures. They almost looked like reptilian badgers that could burrow through the soft chalk of the area. We defeated them but others who travel in the area should be on the lookout for them.

The next day, we found some ancient standing stones (about 32 miles away from the city) with more hare carvings, and this time, “skin the hare. Kept death away” was inscribed along with “…it has no eyes, it cannot see.” Inspired by these inscriptions and our dwindling rations we caught some hares for rabbit stew. We Draylor did his arial recon he could see something in the distances but could not make out what the struction was…it turned out it was exactly what we were looking for: A bridge over the large chasm that the previous scouting group had discovered. The bridge is in need of repairing before it can be crossed, but we set up the travel beacon nearby so that it shouldn’t be too much trouble for a group to drop in with the necessary supplies and fix the bridge. All told the bridge is about 42 miles away from the city.
