Timekeeping

Tharnic Calendar

The nation of Tharnis was such a dominant cultural force that it still influences how time is kept even after it was destroyed during the Solaen Collapse, approximately 500 years ago.

The current year is most commonly tracked as years since the Solaen Collapse or Post Collapse (PC). It is current 446 PC.

Months of the Year

Each year is comprised of six distinct months (60 days each), followed by a six-day transition called The Year’s Turning:

The Year’s Turning

Following Frosttide, the six-day transition period known as The Year’s Turning marked the shift into the new year. Each day was a holiday or observance tied to one of the six months, reflecting themes of renewal, remembrance, and preparation for the cycle ahead.
This calendar structured the daily lives of Tharnis’ people, influencing festivals, trade cycles, and governance. Even after the empire’s fall, this system remains the dominant month structure in the region, though much of its cultural meaning has been lost over time as new traditions and meanings developed.

Years Pre-Collapse

Before the Solaen Collapse, Tharnis used the Legislative Charter Count (LCC) to track years from its founding. Below is a rough timeline marking the major historical shifts within the empire. Though be warned much of what was known about the earlier eras has been lost to time. The name of each era is what they came to be known as and do not reflect what Tharnic society called them. Scholars do not know the true names of any era before the 4th.
