“The Fey Lady came to me in a dream and has called a crusade. The mission is clear. To be a crusader is to follow the tenets of our most Holy Lady. Swear that you will bring the sword of vengeance to the oppressors, and the chalice of freedom to the enslaved. Do this, and you shall be rewarded with paradise.”
Gorgoth, first crusader of Lady Elaine.
The Crusade
The Dragonborn, Goliath and Orcs found a way to goodness on their own. Most of the Goblins were freed from the conquering god, Maglubiyet. Many more monstrous species are still bound under the subjugation of their wicked gods. Like the Kobolds who are bound in servitude by their god Kurtulmak. The Minotaurs and the Lizardfolk are more examples of societies where individuals have already seen Lady Elaine’s guiding light. Those who have not must drink from her chalice.. or face her blade.
The tenets
Bring the sword of vengeance to the oppressors
Bring the chalice of freedom to the enslaved
Save the soul of those who are bound by wickedness
Protect those who are unable to defend themselves
Appearance
All who embrace Lady Elaine are welcomed into the ranks with open arms. From every species and every walk of life. So you'll rarely find a coherent look or uniform. But when they can, the crusaders try to color match themselves with the colors blue, orange and silver. With a golden chalice adoring their armor, shield or clothes to mark their devotion to the Fey Lady.
Converts, the wielders of the blade.
A large portion of those who follow Lady Elaine’s Crusade were individuals once considered monstrous or evil. Despite their nature they were freed once they were brought under the influence of Lady Elaine. Rejecting their former evil tendencies, they too have become followers of Lady Elaine and are known amongst her followers as Converts. Most numerous among these are the Goblins of Anfyn. When the Converts take up arms, they often become zealous barbarians, empowered in battle through righteous fury.
Pilgrims, the bearers of the chalice.
The other half of the Crusaders are willing humanoids who found Lady Elaine on their own. Typically these individuals are clerics, paladins or warlocks who have a pact with the Lady. These pilgrims walk and wander, sometimes alone and sometimes in groups. They often undertake a quest of errantry, traveling and adventuring while doing good and serving the Crusade. It is the pilgrims who are most often the ones who persuade others to follow in Lady Elaine’s tenets.
