Description
Magia ad Nihilum is a radical offshoot of the Eldritch Inquisition, operating at the extreme fringe of its ideology. This hardline sect is devoted to the total control or complete eradication of arcane magic, especially in the hands of humanoids. They believe magic is inherently corrupting and far too dangerous to be wielded by those prone to ambition, emotion, or error. Though small in number, they are ruthless in purpose and often act from the shadows, infiltrating institutions or quietly manipulating events to further their goal: a world purged of arcane power.
Goals, Aspirations & Fears
Magia ad Nihilum is driven by a singular, uncompromising belief: arcane magic is a threat that must be silenced. To them, magic in the hands of mortals is a dangerous mistake one that history has proven time and again to lead only to chaos, corruption, and catastrophe. Their guiding principle is simple: if magic cannot be perfectly controlled, it must be eradicated entirely.
Their ultimate aspiration is a world free from arcane influence a world where spellbooks turn to dust, ancient runes lie forgotten, and the reckless ambition of mortal mages is no longer a danger to the fabric of reality. They work in secret to destroy magical texts, dismantle arcane institutions, and eliminate practitioners who refuse to surrender their power.
They are deeply fearful of the current arcane resurgence unfolding across Kildar. The Shadowfellian Exodus is viewed as a harbinger of greater calamities, proof that magic can tear open the boundaries between planes. The return of the Fey is met with suspicion and dread, Fey magic is unpredictable and seductive, a direct challenge to Magia ad Nihilum's ideals. Planar magic, above all, terrifies them. It represents the ultimate loss of control: doors opened to the unknown, to otherworldly horrors, to power far beyond mortal comprehension.
To the outside world, their fears may seem paranoid, but to Magia ad Nihilum, they are survival.
Structure & people
The Leader Magia ad Nihilum operates in tightly-knit cells within the Eldritch Inquisition. The consist of many are operatives, so-called Wardens, who carry out field missions, gather intelligence, and hunt rogue mages. Recruits are typically indoctrinated or disillusioned members of magical orders, drawn in by tragedy, fear, or zealotry.
The faction is semi-autonomous from the broader Inquisition, but maintains uneasy ties, often hiding their full doctrine to avoid expulsion or arrest.
