Alliances

First Among the Military Guilds

  • The Mercenary's Guild is the most organized of the combat guilds, and as such often takes the lead in the Landsraad and other inter-guild negotiations in the name of their collective interests.

The Guards Guild

  • Many Mercenaries started out as guards to their hometowns, and many eventually return back to the Guards to do so once they have had their fill of gold and adventure. This constant cycle of membership keeps the ties between the organizations close, not to mention that mercenaries often do the duties too complicated for city guards, but where the power (and expense) of hiring Adventurers is seen as overkill.

The Smiths Guild

  • The Mercenary Guild is, together with the Guards Guild, one of the primary buyers of weapons from the Smiths Guild. As such their relationship is one of mutual necessity and respect. The Mercenary Guild wouldn't be able to function without the weapons from the Smiths, who in turn would have trouble to find another buyer for their many weapons.

The Bounty Hunters Guild

  • The relationship between the Bounty Hunters and the Mercenaries is one of shared burdens and values. Where the Mercenaries refuse to be compared to common hired thugs, the Bounty Hunters see a comparison with assassins as a grave insult, even if both those Guilds fulfil those roles on more than a few occasions. In specifics, The Bounty Hunters Guild can always be counted on to deal with any potential deserters of the Mercenaries Guild. In return, The Bounty Hunters get an constant supply of relatively easy mission for a significant amount of gold. And both parties keep this murky relationship quiet, of course.

Rivals

The Eldritch Inquisition

  • The Eldritch Inquisition is a rival to the Mercenaries Guilds, mainly due to their control over the portal network. The Mercenaries see the network as an essential part of re-establishing a central Authority over Kildar.
