"Never a trace of red" - Battlecry of the McTennite family

Description

It was a cursed night, long ago, when the bride of Gabriel McTennite was taken from her bed by the evil vampire count Strigor Cagliostro. Gabriel switfly took up arms against Cagliostro and his undead minions and braved the halls of his crumbling castle. Though his efforts to safe his young bride were in vain, Gabriel managed to slay Strigor, who died uttering a curse that he would haunt the McTennite family to the end of days.

After burying his beloved wife, Gabriel vowed that he and his decendants would fight and defeat Strigor Cagliostro and his minions whenever he rose again. A vow the McTennite family keeps to this day.

Having grown in numbers, the family is nowadays a stalward bulwark against the evil dead that might plague the people of Klidar. Though still small in comparison to other orginizations, their expertise has proven to be valuable to many, among which, most prominently, The Eldritch Inquisition!

It was due to this expertise and their frequent cooperation, the family was asked to join The Eldritch Inquisition as a chapter. These days one is very likely to find a representative of the family in many of the inquisitions fortresses and outposts.

If the moon sigil is not a dead giveaway, the red gloves every member wears are a clear sign that one belongs to the McTennite Family. It's inspired by their battle cry "Never a trace of red", referencing that the blood of their vampiric enemies will not leave a mark on them.

Structure & people

The leader or matriach/patriach of the family is always the oldest child. If the current matriarch of patriach would die before the oldes child is of age, the role befalls their spouse.

When the family joined the fray of the Eldritch Inquisition it allowed people from outside the family and its social circles to join and be trained to fight the undead.

Leader

Lucille McTennite - Brown took over the reigns of the family after the untimely death of her husband Richter. She is known as the "Shrouded Bulwark" given the fact that she always wears a black armour and mourning veil when riding into battle.

Notable members

  • Roberta Cassotto Walden: Second in command of the family, butress of the household and a more that capable fighter in her own right. She has her own reason to take up arms against the undead, but speaks not of this. Her cheery disposition belies her competence and wisdom beyond her years. She has the full trust of Lucille McTennite - Brown and is the godmother to her daughter Jennifer. She is a lady in waiting with a playfull yet slightly dark sense of humour, but a keen eye for competence and a strictness when it comes to fighting discipline;

  • Jennifer (Jenny) Mary McTennite: Daughter of Lucille McTennite with her late husband and last in the McTennite bloodline. She resides at the McTennite Estate and is being taught by her mother and godmother Roberta to fight the undead from the day she could walk. Despite her predestination and upbringing, she is a bubly child who's hijinks often get her into trouble. Said to be the only one who can make her mother smile;

  • Vladimir "The Impaler" Wallachia: A tall figure who towers above all of the other members of the family. A good natured man with a passionate disgust for the undead. Lost his family to a pack of ravenous ghouls. Uses humour and optimism to hide his pain from the people around him. Earned the nickname "The Impaler" fro the way he skewers his enemies with his silvers spear he affectionedly calls "Mina";

  • Harker: Not much is known about Harker. He is a silent man who rarely speaks and chooses to while away his free hours on his own. Can often be seen staring inside the pendant he carries around his neck. Rumours say he joined the family after his wife and children were turned into zombies and he himself put them out of their missery. Carries a huge mallet, his fierceness on the battlefield is juxtaposed to his usual calm demeanor.
