The Post-War Refuge of Stormhaven
Graymoor is a neighborhood born out of necessity, established in the aftermath of the brutal war with Hadar. It was initially a refuge for those fleeing the devastation of Thorica, and as such, the district has a distinct post-war vibe. Everything in Graymoor was built quickly, prioritizing function over form, leading to a practical but stark environment.
Architecture and Layout:
The architecture of Graymoor is utilitarian, with straight lines and angular designs dominating the landscape. The buildings are simple and sturdy, constructed to provide shelter as quickly as possible for the influx of refugees. There's little in the way of decorative flair—Graymoor's aesthetic is one of pragmatism and efficiency. The neighborhood is a grid of uniform streets, lined with similar-looking houses that lack the variety or charm found in other parts of Stormhaven. Over time, some residents have attempted to personalize their homes, but the overall impression remains one of austerity.
Demographics:
Graymoor is now an aging neighborhood. The children who grew up here in the years following the war are now in their late 70s, and many of the current residents are elderly. It's a graying community, with a large population of "baby boomers" from the post-war era. As the original refugees have aged, their children and grandchildren have moved away, leaving behind a quieter, slower-paced area that contrasts with the bustling energy of Stormhaven’s other districts.
Culture and Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in Graymoor is subdued, reflective of its history and its aging population. The sense of urgency that once pervaded the district has faded, leaving behind a quiet, almost melancholic air. The lack of aesthetic appeal compared to other neighborhoods gives it a somewhat dreary feeling, though residents take pride in the practical, no-nonsense nature of their homes. The streets are often lined with well-tended gardens, as the older residents find solace in their cultivation.
Post-War Influence:
Graymoor's history is deeply tied to the war with Hadar. Many of the original residents were refugees who had lost everything, and this has left a lasting impact on the neighborhood. The children born during or shortly after the war were often named after the heroes who fought in the conflict, and many streets, parks, and public spaces bear the names of these figures. There's a strong sense of remembrance in Graymoor, with memorials and plaques commemorating those who were lost.
Community Life:
Community life in Graymoor revolves around its older residents. Social gatherings are often centered around quieter activities—tea houses, gardening clubs, and storytelling evenings where the elders share their memories of the war and the neighborhood's early days. There’s a strong sense of continuity, as those who remain are deeply connected by shared history. However, this also means that Graymoor has a slower pace and less vibrancy compared to other districts, with fewer young people and new families.
Challenges and Future:
As the population of Graymoor continues to age, the neighborhood faces the challenge of maintaining its relevance in the larger context of Stormhaven. Younger generations have largely moved away, seeking opportunities and excitement in other parts of the city. This has led to concerns about the future of Graymoor, as its residents wonder who will carry on their legacy when they are gone. Despite these challenges, Graymoor remains a testament to resilience and survival—a neighborhood built on the strength and determination of those who endured the horrors of war and found a way to rebuild their lives.

Feline's Wings Orphanage
Feline Wings Orphanage, named after a Tabaxi hero granted wings by Lady Elain to fight Hadar, stood in the quiet district of Graymoor. Built from dark stone and timber, it was once a beacon of hope for orphans after the Hadar War. The large garden provided the children with a rare sense of joy and peace. Eight years ago, however, the building was engulfed in strange black flames after a foul smell filled the air. By the next day, not even ruins remained, and all the children were presumed dead. Rumors persist, though, that one child may have escaped. The mystery surrounding its destruction lingers, casting a shadow over the quiet neighborhood.
The building has since been rebuild and is since run by Jetix and is sponsored by Lyra and Morwen, and the church of Lady Elaine
