Description

Death isn’t always the end. Reborn are individuals who have died and yet are somehow still alive. Often described as a "zombie with a conscious". A reborn can be of any species, and some event or intervention has prevented them from dying. Perhaps it was Divine intervention or maybe nefarious necromancy or perhaps something else entirely.

Perhaps the soul now occupying this body, might not be the bodies original owner. In these cases fingers often point towards voodoo rituals, demonic possessions or many a cursed artifact.

The appearance of a Reborn is that of it's parental species, but with a touch of the undead. How that looks will very much depend on how much time there was between their death and rebirth, and how long they have been 'alive' since. Some reborn exhibit the scars of fatal ends, their ashen flesh or bloodless veins making it clear that they’ve been touched by death. Other reborn are marvels of magic or science, being stitched together from disparate beings or bearing mysterious minds in manufactured bodies.

The unbound adventurers that defeated Grandmother in June of the year 605 could definitely be considered 'Reborn'.

Culture

When discovered to be reborn, communities often react in one of two ways:

• With fear and suspicion: They should be dead! Some foul magic is afoot, kill them, and make sure they stay dead this time!

• With cheer and religiousness: It is a miracle! A blessing from the gods! Fate is not done with them yet and the gods have brought them back to save us!
