Blackmoor

Overview

Blackmoor is a secluded village founded by refugees who escaped the sewers of Umbra. Settling in the surrounding marshy bogs, the survivors adapted to a harsh environment still rife with disease, vermin, and parasites such as leeches, mosquitoes, and fungi. Over time, the villagers have developed a cautious symbiosis with these hazards, using their knowledge of the bog to survive where others would perish.

The bogs are also home to bog fey, with whom the villagers maintain a wary but respectful relationship. Local legend tells of a powerful hag who once lived in Blackmoor, capable of spreading plagues; her memory endures in stories that warn against greed or carelessness in the marshes.

Life in Blackmoor is shaped by isolation, scarcity, and the constant presence of disease and natural threats. Despite this, the community persists, bound by shared history, survival skills, and a profound understanding of the delicate balance between themselves, the vermin, and the mystical inhabitants of the bog.
