The Lady of the Chalice
Lady Elaine, also known as The Lady of the Chalice, The Fey Lady and The Fey Enchantress, is a deity of goblinoids and fierce rival to Maglubiyet. She is a chaotic good member of the Archfey and originates from the Feywild. She is a deity of arcana and the patron deity of those who seek to free themselves from oppression.
She is also patron deity to good natured goblins, hobgoblins, bugbears, worgs and other goblinoids. She seeks to return them to the Feywild from where they originate. She is revered by other monstrous species who seek to be freed of the shackles of their evil nature or gods. These species include other monstrous races like orcs, ogres, gnolls and many more. Magic users may also feel drawn to her for the power and items she may provide in exchange for doing her bidding.
Description
The Lady of the Chalice appears as a tall, fair and pale skinned lady in an elegant cobalt gown. Her hair is a natural orange hue and of such length that it could touch her feet. When she appears, both her hair and gown flow around her as if she is submerged in water. A smell of drenched cloth and stale water fills the air. To the touch she would feel soft and wet. Her voice can be clear, direct and commanding, yet also sweet and filled with motherly love toward her chosen few. The color of her irises change depending on her mood, denoting her fey nature. In her left hand she holds a silver longsword. In her right hand she holds a golden chalice.
Divine Realm
Lady Elaine’s realm is a realm of delight in the Feywild that is dedicated solely to her and her followers. This realm is known as Old Anfyn, an island paradise surrounded by an impenetrable magical fog. Only those who cast off the shackles of their oppressors and embrace the Fey Lady are said to be able to pass. Those who wish her harm lose their way and are doomed to sail aimlessly through the fog until their death.
Old Anfyn is not to be confused with the valley of New Anfyn, or commonly referred to as just Anfyn. It is a valley in the south of Kildar. Home to followers of Lady Elaine, and a holy site.
The island of Old Anfyn is a safe haven for those souls promised to Maglubiyet. Here, the souls of good natured goblinoids are free to frolic, dance and rest. It is also the resting place for those who devote their life to the service of the Fey Lady. The souls that are directed here after death may find themselves brimming with magical powers, though these are usually more artistic than destructive in nature.
Old Anfyn is a paradise island perpetually bathed in an eternal, warm sunlight. Its landmass is made up from a combination of seemingly endless forests and massive lakes surrounded by warm sandy beaches. The island is filled with wildlife and teeming with fruits and vegetables that seem to replenish magically.
Located somewhere on the island is a tower that leads not upward, but down into the earth beneath the island. Here is the home of the Lady of the Chalice, where she rests at the bottom of an underground lake. Unseen holes shed light into this massive, damp cave. It is this magical lake that allows her to appear in the dreams and visions of those eager to embrace her.
Those who seek her out may request her boon. She will provide these seekers with a test. With her chalice she may allow worthy individuals to drink from her lake, which is said to bestow great gifts. Unworthy individuals may meet an untimely demise at the end of her longsword.
Relationships
The Fey Lady holds no place within the courts of the Fey. She is viewed as an independent Archfey as she holds no interest in matters of politics. She hides her realm from all outsiders, even from those with good intentions. She holds a great sense of responsibility for her island and followers. She will take their safety into consideration before acting to aid anyone else.
She hates Maglubiyet in specific, but also dislikes those gods of monstrous races that seek to control their followers. Maglubiyet in specific has made it his goal to find her island and defeat Lady Elain, thus reshackling her followers under his command.
Worshipers
The Fey Lady is known for bestowing power on those who beseech her in various ways: she may gift these individuals with magic power or items through dreams and visions, she may bestow power through intermediaries like priests or mages or she may trade them in the form of a pact that exchanges servitude for power.
The Fey Enchantress may appear to her followers in dreams or visions where she provides advice, or more often, direct instructions. In her anger towards enslavers and oppressors she often instructs the forceful freeing of individuals through magical charming or acts of manipulation.
Her followers are usually Paladins, Clerics and Warlocks. Some members of her clergy might act as spiritual leaders for groups of good-natured monstrous creatures. Others will attempt to spread her word as wandering missionaries. Even others may seek to aid the oppressed by giving them the means of freedom through magic, either through gifts or tutelage. The favored weapon of Lady Elaine is the longsword. Her holy symbol is a gold Chalice.
