Overview

The Wyrmspire Mountains are a towering, rugged range in central-eastern Kildar, defined by jagged, needle-like peaks, narrow passes, and treacherous terrain. Beneath their sharp summits lie labyrinthine cave systems that harbor strange phenomena and dangerous creatures, drawing adventurers and scholars alike.

The safest known route into the mountains is via Quells Deep, a narrow gorge that winds through cliffs to the inner ranges.

Notable Locations

The Crystal Spire is an ice-covered peak famed for the Cave of the Oracle, where ancient prophecies are said to echo through the ice.

Kalessin's Keep, a fortified country house at the mountain’s base, serves as the headquarters of the Tyrant’s Bane, a Shadowfellian mercenary group that hunts monsters and collects rare components for clients.

Crystal Spire

The Crystal Spire is an ice-covered peak at the heart of the Wyrmspire Mountains, most famous for the Cave of the Oracle. The cave’s jagged, mouth-like entrance gives it a near-sentient appearance, and local legend claims it houses a slumbering beholder whose dreams shape the cavern’s bizarre, shifting interior.

Adventurers report wildly differing experiences inside the cave. Its layout appears to change for each visitor, suggesting illusions—or perhaps a deeper, symbolic reality. Some claim it offers glimpses of possible futures; others say it manifests answers to a visitor’s deepest questions and desires. Artifacts found within can sometimes be brought back, proving the cave is more than a mere illusion.

Only those burdened with profound questions or unresolved desires dare the treacherous journey. Most never return, and those who do are often forever changed.
