"Courage" - Battlecry of the Order of Saint Muriel
Description
Founded long ago as the Sisters Eustacians by its founder Saint Muriel, this order seeks to rid Kildar of any and all werebeast. These days it accepts not only women, but anyone who shares the vision of the order.
Members travel through Kildar in hopes of seeking out and vanquishing werebeasts and other fiends that might threathen the people of Kildar. Given their monastic background, many members are also wellversed in the curing of wounds, ailments, afflictions and the brewing of ale. Members are not encouraged to serve and protect out of a want for monetary gain, but this rule is not enforced, if generous tithes are provided to the order itself.
Their Battlecry "Courage" finds its origins in the name of St. Muriel's own faithful canine companion. And is often shouted before every combat engagement to summon the fighting spirit of the legendary hound.
They were adopted as a sister order by the The Eldritch Inquisition in the wake of the war against the Grandmother. The Inquisition sponsors the cause of the order and both share resources, personel and experience.
Their base of opperations is the Monastery of Saint Muriel in Arland.
Goals, Aspirations & Fears
Members of the order wish to eradicate any and all werebeast that might plague the people of kildar. As well as assist wherever they can.
They fear nought but themselves succumbing to the curse of the werebeast. If they however are infected and are unable to end their own suffering, the order makes it a point to relieve their fallen comerade from their ill fate and send them to the side of Saint Muriel.
Structure & people
The order of St. Muriel is an ecclesiarchy governed by the reverend mother, currently Reverend Mother Jessica Herbert. Most cities and larger Eldritch Inquisition strongholds have a church or chapel dedicated to St. Muriel and are led by a mother. The mothers come together at the main monastery twice a year to discuss the goings on in the order.
The Reverend Mother is assisted by a steward.
Members of the order usually operate alone (with a squire) or in small groups. If an occasion asks for a larger force members usually band together in warbands or hunting parties led by a member with the rank of Paladin.
Leader
While the order is host to people of any gender, it's leader is always a women going by the title of Reverend Mother. Leaders of smaller franchises of the order are refered to as mothers.
The current leader is Reverend Mother Jessica Herbert
In the earlier days, the term "Grand Mother" was used as the title for the leader of the order. But recent events have tainted that title and it was let go off for obvious reasons.
Notable members
Stewart Patrick Mirfield: Stewart of the order and right hand man to Reverend Mother Jessica Herbert, is in charge of the day to day dealings at the monastery;
Bragi Koganusan: Bragi joined The Eldritch Inquisition and ultimatly the Order of St. Muriel after the dissapearance of his brother Orgnuf;
Binky I: Bragi's loyal canine counterpart, formerly Orgnuf's trusty companion. Rumours say that Binky I is unbound.
Christopher Stirba: Loyal member of the order and proficient werewolf hunter. A lone wolf who is most comfortable preforming his duties alone with only his loyal hound Crosscoe by his side. The order can go months without hearing from them, but Christopher always returns with tall tales and thropies of his exploits;
Crosscoe: Christpher Stirba's loyal canine companion.
Quest Giver
While most matters that come to werebeasts are handled in house, it is not uncommon for the order to enlist the help of other The Eldritch Inquisition chapters or outsiders. In this case, a representetive of the referend or local Mother will make contact with those seen fit to temporarily serve under the banner of Saint Muriel.
When a request comes directly from Reverend Mother Jessica Herbert herself, it is often handled through her steward Patrick.
Opponent
Harvesting praise for their acts of goodwill and donations towards the people of Kildar, they do not find many opponents among the people of good will. Though there is said to be a man only known as Unsetteling Frederic who harbours some vitriol against the canine members of the order.
