Court of Tricksters
/

Description

Brief description of the faction, its purpose, and main activities.

Goals, Aspirations & Fears

The Court of Tricksters, thrives on mischief, humor, and chaos, believing that laughter and unpredictability are essential to the Feywild’s magic. They view pranks as a form of enlightenment, forcing others to embrace spontaneity and adapt to the unexpected. Their long-term goal is to spread their brand of “playful disorder” across Kildar, ensuring that nothing becomes stagnant or overly serious.

Structure & people

  1. The Jester Monarch (Leader): Tricklewink Pucklebriar – A quick-witted, shape-shifting Fey with a hat full of bells and eyes that constantly sparkle with mischief. They are the embodiment of cunning humor and delight in orchestrating pranks that blur the line between harmless fun and troublesome chaos.

  2. The Laughing Mask: Grimrick Chucklestick – A mischievous half-shadow Fey who can step between dimensions to appear where they are least expected. They oversee the court’s “special operations,” such as elaborate practical jokes or infiltration pranks on other courts.

  3. The Trickster Scribe: Quibble Scribblequill – A tiny, impish Fey who records the most legendary pranks in magical tomes. They carry enchanted quills that play tricks on anyone who tries to read the court's secrets.

  4. Performers: Fey jesters, clowns, acrobats, and illusionists make up the Carnival’s main population. They delight in involving visitors in their acts, whether invited or not.

Location

  • The Fool’s Carnival: The heart of the Court, the Fool’s Carnival is an ever-moving circus camp that shifts unpredictably throughout the Feywild. Great striped tents of red, gold, and violet stretch high into the sky, surrounded by glowing strings of lights that hum with Fey magic. Inside the tents, the laws of reality blur—floors flip upside down, rooms expand infinitely, and mirrors show hilariously distorted reflections.

  • Related Locations:

    • The Fool’s Carnival often “pops up” near the Court of Gifts’ Gleaming Court, spreading pranks and stealing unwanted gifts to add to their games.

    • Paths from the Carnival lead to Kildarian towns, where Fey spread their circus performances to curious mortals.

Etiquette

To survive the Fool’s Carnival, guests must follow the Rules of the Ring:

  1. Play along or play the fool. Guests must embrace the chaos—resisting a prank makes one the target of greater mischief.

  2. Laugh loudly. Guests are expected to appreciate jokes, no matter how embarrassing or disruptive they may be.

  3. Surprise is sacred. All pranks must be unexpected, even by allies or friends.

  4. Never prank without flair. A prank must have cleverness or artistry; crude tricks are frowned upon.

Leave seriousness at the gates. Formality, strict rules, or dull behavior are punished by pies to the face or dancing shoes enchanted to “fix” one’s mood.
