Daily Life

Classes

By and large, most Elven adventurers become highly appreciated Bards, who make magical music with their beautiful language. Other Elves that wish to perfect their craft become Rogues or Wizards. Elves who embrace a life of inner peace often become Clerics and Monks. Many Elves also embrace Druidism because it reminds them of the time when they themselves were able to change shape at will in a time before their betrayal of Corellon. They also particularly embrace the path of the Ranger because of their affinity with nature.

Professions

The Elves are so numerous and widespread that they have representation in most, if not all of the Guilds of Kildar. However they particularly have a large representation in the Musicians Guild, the Herbalists Guild and the Diplomats Guild. They also have large representation in the Potter’s and Glassblower’s Guilds, where the Elves create the most finely decorated jars, pots, urns and vases.

Backgrounds

Most Elves find themselves embracing lives as Artisans, Entertainers, Merchants, Nobles, Sages and Scribes. These Elves live to perfect their craft, and skilled artists are venerated as equally as merchants or nobles. The Elves who seek to find inner peace instead embrace a more modest lifestyle embrace life like Acolytes or Hermits.

High Elves often have a larger appreciation for martial arts than other elf lineages, and thus more often become Guards, Soldiers or even Nobles. Wood Elves often find themselves embracing lives as Farmers and Guides. Drow find themselves trying to integrate into society, but are often ostracized by more radical Elves. Therefore, they often find themselves in the position of Wayfarers. The Drow who distance themselves from Lolth and call themselves Dark Elves more often find acceptance within society, and thus get more opportunities than other Drow.

Clothing

Elf civilians typically wear two pieces of clothing draped about the body: an undergarment and a cloak. The Elven people have many factors (political, economic, social, and cultural) that determine what they wear and when they wear it.

Clothes are quite simple, draped, loose-fitting and free-flowing. Customarily, clothing is homemade and cut to various lengths of rectangular linen or wool fabric with minimal cutting or sewing, and secured with ornamental clasps or pins, and a belt, or girdle. Pieces are generally interchangeable between masculine and feminine Elves. However, female Elves usually wear their robes to their ankles while male Elves generally wear theirs to their knees depending on the occasion and circumstance.

Clasps

The seemingly minor tradition of how elves wear their ornamental clasps has become a persistent source of quiet rivalry among the Elven regions of Kildar. In the north, elves fasten their clasps in the center of their robes, while eastern elves prefer the left side and western elves the right. In the south, the clasp is often worn at the shoulder, while central elves display a more ornate style, wearing multiple clasps to blend different regional traditions. Though insignificant to outsiders, these variations in fashion often lead to subtle judgment and tension during formal gatherings, with elves quietly critiquing the "improper" clasping styles of others. This trivial difference serves as a symbolic marker of regional pride, keeping alive an undercurrent of rivalry within elven society.
