Description

The most devote followers of the Archfey & Goddes; Lady Elaine have formed a holy crusade to liberate the oppressed peoples of Kildar.

Elaine's Crusaders make pilgrimages to Anfyn, and from there they venture out into Kildar, sometimes as lone hedge-knights, sometimes in small warbands (usually fewer than 50 individuals). Some followers take to the high seas to 'liberate' rich merchants from their cargo as pirates.

Worldview

Slavery is considered the biggest crime of all, and most live their lives trying to live as equal as possible, using democratic decision making and communistic sharing of their resources.

Elaine's Tenets:

  • All peoples are equal.

  • Bring the sword of vengeance to the oppressors

  • Bring the chalice of freedom to the enslaved

  • Save the souls of those who are bound by wickedness

  • Protect those who are unable to defend themselves

  • Death is not the end, for if you've followed the Tenets your soul wil enter the Lady's Lands in ethernal peace and tranquility.

One does not need embrace Lady Elaine specifically, to be considered 'good' by the crusade. Just living ones life according to to her Tenets is enough. But for those who do not see the errors in their ways, they will face Elaine's fury through the blades of her fanatic crusaders.

Appearance & Heritage

All who embrace Lady Elaine or her Tenets are welcomed into the ranks with open arms. Crusaders can be from every species and every walk of life. So you'll rarely find a coherent look or uniform. But when they can, the crusaders try to color match themselves with the colors orange, blue and silver, with a chalice adoring their armor, shield or clothes to mark their devotion to the Fey Lady.

A large portion of those who follow Lady Elaine’s Crusade are individuals many would have considered monstrous or evil. Most numerous among these are the Goblins of Anfyn. When the converts take up arms, they often come in the form zealous barbarians, devoted paladins, arch-fey-pacted warlocks or enlightened clerics. Lady Elaine empowers them all in battle through righteous fury.

Structure & people

With equality as a core pillar of the group. The crusade is has a meritocratic organization style. Those whose ideas are considered the best, or whose contributions are valued the most are democratically chosen for leadership positions. Not that there are many leadership positions.

As a foremost religious organization, the Goddess and Arch Fey Lady Elaine is obviously their chosen leader. But as she rarely speaks directly to her followers, her priests do most of the talking for her, and therefore hold the most power.

Besides listening to the priests, when crusaders leave the safety of Anfyn in small warbands, they usually vote for a warband-leader to follow orders from. But on the road any member of a warband can call into question a decision made by the leader, when that happens, the entire warband discusses and votes on the decision.

Quest Givers

Amadeus the singing Ogre. Leader of a small crusading warband that travels across Kildar. A towering and intimidating individual, but with a kind and jolly personality. He loves singing, especially during battle. He used to be pirate, but after a being freed by adventurers from a particularly nasty encounter with a pirate-enslaving aboleth, that crowned itself the 'pirate king', Amadeus left the pirate life behind and now does his crusading on land.

He is best friends with Professor Prattleton from Jared University, the quest giver from the Intellectual Institutions.

Opponents

The Commerce Factions is always at odds with Elaines Crusaders. They consider them a great nuisance and danger to their profit margins. If their profits dip too low due to Crusader activity, they will hire the Mercenary Guild or other Military Guilds to deal with local Crusaders.

Locations

Members of the faction hold the most influence in the valley of Anfyn.

History

“The Fey Lady came to me in a dream and has called a crusade. The mission is clear. To be a crusader is to follow the tenets of our most Holy Lady. Swear that you will bring the sword of vengeance to the oppressors, and the chalice of freedom to the enslaved. Do this, and you shall be rewarded with paradise.”

-Gorgoth, first crusader of Lady Elaine
