The Transformation (1700-2100 BGC)
The dragons were magnificent. A stunning blend of grace, predatory beauty, icy confidence, and immense power. The Ideal. The Masters of the World.
There was only one problem: these masters were killing everyone. Every living thing. And the elves saw only one explanation for this: the Dragons followed the same principles the elves did, destroying everything that failed to meet their ideal of the Beauty.
In the eyes of the Dragons, the elves were Ugliness.
The alliance between the Elves and the Džuns began to fracture. The Džuns had no desire to become victims of Beauty – they wanted to live and to rule. The Džuns declared war on the Dragons. The elves could not join them in this endeavor – their entire philosophy, their deepest beliefs, demanded that they themselves die in the name of Beauty. But an entire race cannot simply commit collective suicide.
So the elves sought a compromise – the last one in their history, according to Nayan.
Elves are among the most magically gifted races in the world. Even then, they possessed knowledge of many secrets of sorcery that remain the hidden domain of the Great Mages to this day. A solution was found: the elves would change themselves. They would become like the Dragons – just as Beautiful. Not the same, but equal. They would live longer, they would no longer wither with age, they would become more agile and strong, and most importantly – they would become winged.
The flight of the Dragon mesmerized the ancient elves. Their greatest dream was to earn wings.
The process of magical Transformation was to take around 200 years.
