Formation of the League (800 AGC)

After the Cataclysm, the war between Kania and Hadagan shifted its focus to control over the allods. For a time, territorial parity was maintained, but recent events – such as Hadagan’s alliance with the orcs, the capture of several allods, and the emergence of the Arisen within the Empire – suggested that Kania needed to prepare for a new war.

Kania formed an alliance with the elves, giving rise to the League. Soon after, the ghibberlings joined, bringing with them the secret of astral travel. The time had come for decisive action, and it was to begin with the capture of the allod Kyrah. With access to a vast supply of meteorite (a material vital to astral navigation, as discovered by the ghibberlings), the League would gain a significant strategic advantage, the ability to explore the Astral, and the means to strike at the Hadaganian Empire anywhere.

At the same time, Kania’s leadership – particularly Tenses – understood that in its current state of disunity, Kania would struggle to stand against a powerful, centralized Hadaganian Empire, despite the wealth and prosperity of its allod-cities. Even then, Tenses believed that neither the League nor the secret technology of astral travel would secure lasting dominance. He advocated for the unification of Kania into a single, strong state, but at that time, he failed to achieve this goal.

What Kania needed was a powerful upheaval – something to stir the stagnant mire of rigidity and traditionalism. Tenses believed that war with Hadagan – especially a war that ended in failure – might serve that purpose. And so he gave the order to begin expansion into the allod of Kyrah.
