To the elves, Dragons were perfection incarnate. They were an exquisite fusion of grace, predatory beauty, icy confidence, and unparalleled power. They were, in every way, the ideal beings. Masters of the world.

But there was one problem —

The Masters of the World were slaughtering everyone and burning everything.

At first, the elves assumed that the Dragons followed the same philosophy as themselves — that they, too, were eradicating all that fell short of their perfect vision. If so, then from the Dragons' perspective… The Elves themselves were Ugliness.

The Džun saw things differently. They had no desire to die in the name of Beauty. They wanted to live and rule. And so, they declared war on the Dragons.

The elves, bound by their ideals, could not follow them down that path. Their philosophy demanded that they, too, embrace destruction — or accept their own extinction.

But an entire race cannot simply commit suicide.

So, they sought another way — the last compromise in their history, as Nayan would later call it.
