When the world broke apart, its shattered landmasses were drawn toward the void of the Astral, as if being devoured by the very force that had once birthed them.
It was then that the Great Mages Skrakan and Nayan discovered a means of salvation — a powerful spell that could hold the land together around their towers, anchoring fragments of the world in defiance of the Astral’s pull.
Others among the Great Mages followed their lead, and in time, the broken remnants of Sarnout became what is now known as the allods — floating islands of land, each sustained by the will of its Mage.
