The Risen Zem played a crucial role in the scientific and technological revolution that reshaped the Empire.

It was at the Research Institute of Magic and the National Traditions of Zem (RI MANATAZEM) that a secret division was established — one dedicated to studying the possibility of traveling through the Astral sea.

When Nezeb’s Committee successfully captured an Astral Ship from the League in a meticulously planned operation, it was the scientists of the Arisen who unraveled its secrets.

Thanks to their work, the Empire’s own Astral ships were created — not only replicating but far surpassing the vessels of the League in both power and efficiency.

It was at MANATAZEM that Astral Energy, mana, was discovered — a breakthrough that cemented the Empire’s greatness.

The Zem scientists learned to:

• Extract mana from the Astral sea,

• Store and accumulate this energy,

• Refine and adjust it for specific uses.

Most importantly, this harnessed energy did not require a spellcaster to wield it.

This led to two revolutionary advancements:

1. The first cannons on Astral ships — capable of firing enchanted projectiles at enemies.

2. New engines, allowing ships to navigate freely, no longer at the mercy of the unpredictable Astral winds.

With these innovations, the Imperial fleet no longer drifted with the currents of the Astral Plane — it now charted its own course.
