The Stone Ship – that’s what the Ghibberlings called their sanctuary – had survived (as was later discovered) thanks to a massive meteorite that had struck the mainland millennia ago and become buried deep in the mountain’s core. Its fragments were scattered all along the coastline, and it was one of these very shards t

hat ultimately saved the Ghibberlings.

Entirely by chance, they discovered that the meteorite protected against the Astral’s influence. And so, the first Astral ships were born.
With them, hope returned to the Ghibberlings – the hope of finding their Homeland once again. A decision was made: they would return to Ýsa.

To travel through the Astral, it was decided that small fragments of the meteorite would be used as spatial anchors aboard the vessels that would attempt to cross the void. And so, the Ghibberlings embarked on their Astral journeys.

The first Astral ships were little more than converted sea vessels, clumsily outfitted for passage through the unknown. Many ships were lost – victims of Astral storms and monstrous beasts. Only at great cost did the Ghibberlings finally reach the civilized allods.
