IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. Party must consist mainly of kobolds. Only one non-kobold is allowed. This non-kobold is a mercenary or a Free Merchant, and will be met in a bar, probably looking for a job. If you want to take a non-kobold, you should discuss it with a party in advance. If you want to play a League race (elf, ghibberling or kanian), you should consult the GM before that. Also, since kobolds mainly speak koboldic, it is advised for a non-kobold character to pick koboldic language.

  2. Distance relates to time. Solar cycles have no meaning in the Earthveins. The main point about travel is how long it takes to get somewhere. This is measured by a loss of resources. So, time, distance, light, money, weight and everything are all bound together. Light is a currency. A Lux is a measure of light over time. It is also worth one silver piece. 1 Hour of Light = 1 Lux = 1 Silver Piece.

The Lux is most perfectly expressed in oil. If you have oil, you can always trade it underground as if it were silver. If you have other means of making light then you can trade that as well. Oil becomes light. Light gets you more time. Time gets you more money. Money gets you more oil. Oil, money, light and time all in one. But other things are also measured in Lux.

Everything that is connected to light ten times as expensive (so a torch or a pint of oil costs 1 sp, but not bull's-eye lantern, since it is only a tool, useless without an oil).

  3. The food is never enough. The food is fifteen times as expensive. Surface dwellers sell food to underground dwellers with high markup. Growing or hunting food underground is hard.

Rations for 1 week cost 6 gp instead of 4 sp.

It is a common practice to slaughter triblodytes into food, when the Warren is running out of food. When there are no triblodytes… Well. The weakest kobolds become fodder.
